What I Learned This Week

This week I am working with a friend who owns his own business. To start with he does landscaping and maintains houses that are for sale through banks or real estate brokers. The other half of his business is cleaning out foreclosures. I learned that when people lose their houses to the bank they leave a lot behind. The most common items left behind are humidifiers, grass seed spreaders, and ice and roller skates and shop vacs. Right now we even have a sex swing in the storage unit.

The best part about this job is that I work with all men! I am going to my first clean out next week and I am super excited!!

There used to be a show on HGTV or similar in which this woman would go into houses about to be demolished and auction off whatever could be sold. The winning bidder then had to rip his/her purchase out of the walls and carry it out. Everything from bathtub to old windows to fixtures.

I loved that show. Great way to find old stuff and give them a second chance and at bargain basement prices.
