What has happened?

I really feel old now. Never even heard of quite of a few of the ones you youngsters are listing. I grew up with the Fractured Fairy tales, Yogi Bear, the Flintstones, the Jetsons, Magilla Gorilla, Bugs Bunny, Foghorn Leghorn, Roadrunner, Scooby Doo (the FIRST time around), Mighty Dog, Pepe LePeu, Tom and Jerry, Sylvestor and Tweety, etc. Hmmm.... maybe I watched too many cartoons as a kid if I can still remember this many of them. There was another one with a rabbit that was faster than a speeding bullet, but I can't remember the name of that one.

I still love Scooby Doo, but Scrappy's gotta go. Any of you guys remember Morgan Freeman as Easy Reader on the Electric Company? How about Robotech, or Uresei Yatsura?

Oh and SS, you forgot your Lasso of truth here last nite ;)

I was hooked on Warner Brothers Cartoons. Half my vocabulary (yes Miss Southern, Foghorn Leghorn used the word pulchritude to describe Miss Prissy in one of his courting scenes) and the entirety of my knowledge of classical music and opera comes from those rascals. Bullwinkle was seriously subversive (Candlestick Jumpers Local #13 On Strike!) and The Pink Panther often bordered on dadaism. I still watch these things!

I remember thundar....i liked gi joe
still have my action figures too. Have a great collection of star wars figures too.

My dad and i would watch transformers, gobots, voltar...
Saturday cartoons was our day together

I was an odd child, rarely watched cartoons, but I did regularly partake of GI Joe. Duke was the stuff of my wild childhood fantasies. In my fevered little imaginings I used to get all gooey inside thinking of whooping Cobra Commander's butt together. I enjoyed the A Team (it may as well have been a cartoon...) entirely too much. Murdock is my hero. Murdock and the Joker. Doesn't it strike you as odd that Luke Skywalker does the vocals for the Joker in today's Batman cartoon? Vinnie, the kewlll biker mouse from mars and Wildwing, the Goalie cum leader of the Mighty Ducks cartoon have something in common. Ian Zering, yes ladies and gents, Beverly Hills has gone the way of the critters. Every once in a while, I recall, on the Biker Mice, Luke Perry would slum with his buddy as the alien leader dude who ruled Detroit. He often fought an alien in Chicago known as Lawrence Limburger. Yes, it is scary that I know these things. No, I don't have to much time on my hands... hahahahahahahaha the voices! the voices!!!!

Heya Exp, SS,
I just checked my copy of the Heavy Metal movie, They just listed that woman as Starchild.

I'm probabaly dating myself here, but I had the original "Johnny West" and his horse. Of course action figures were much bigger in those days. This guy was about 12 inches tall and came with all the gear a cowboy needs.

As for TV shows, I liked Gunsmoke, Gilligan's Island, Car 54 Where are You, Lost in Space, and Petticoat Junction. I think my first wet dreams were of Billie Jo, Bobbi Jo, and Betty Jo taking their baths in that old water tank!

T'was good then...is better when you say it. :)

Me personally, I think it's entirely too cool that Luke Skywalker now voices the Joker. They're two of my favorite characters of all time.. There's a lot of depth to both of them actually. I have a large book of short-stories about the Joker that's really quite fascinating.

Yogi Bear, the Flintstones, the Jetsons, Magilla Gorilla, Bugs Bunny, Foghorn Leghorn, Roadrunner, Pepe LePeu, Tom and Jerry, Sylvestor and Tweety, etc.

Dick darstadly.... Muttley et all

Astro boy Flash gordon, the muppets... not fraggle rock or muppet babies.

Sorry but also degrassi Junior high... watched that since I was 7 or so

That would be Ricochet Rabbit, and his dpeuty Droopalong.

One of the best jokes about cofee I've ever heard came from that show.

::Droopalong pours coffe. It takes ten seconds to get to the cup::

"Coffee looks a little weak today, Droopalong."

"Ah-yep. Had ta thin it down some, 'twar dullin' mah scissors."

Yes!! That's the one! Thank you!

Now what was the one with the cat that said "Exit, stage left" in every cartoon? Can't remember that one, either.

<smiling> Great thread.

Yeah, I can sing the preamble! Loved Gi-GAN-tor! Did anyone else wonder whether Fred and Daphne had a thing going?

Here are some of my old favorites:

Josie and the Pussycats - Can't think of that without the tune going in my head. Remember how they all used to run with their arms stuck out straight in front of them?

Johnny Quest - What was his little dog's name? Rajah? Or was that his Indian friend...?

Aquaman - I wanted to ride a seahorse more than anything.

Hobo Kelly - That show would never get on the air now. They'd have to name her Homeless Hannah, or something like that.

Captain Kangaroo - That wasn't his real hair, was it...

Romper Room - That damned bitch never saw me in the Magic Mirror.

Huckleberry Hound - Oh, m'darlin, oh, m'darlin, oh, m'darlin, Clementine!

Mighty Mouse - I had a poster of this superhero on my bedroom wall for a long time. Loved his little red briefs.

Felix the Cat, the wonderful wonderful cat.

They don't make 'em like they used to.

I can't remember his name, Cheyenne, but he was part of the Laff Olympics with (lemme think) Grape Ape and OH! was his name SnagglePuss? Hee, I loved that show.

Do I have to admit that I remember the Hair Bear Bunch? H.R. PuffinStuff, Sigmund the SeaMonster, & WitchyPoo. Oh, god, '70's flashback!

<beams at April> Bandit! Of course!

Hey, does anyone remember the theme song of H.R. Puffenstuff?

Once upon a summer's day,
Just a ___ from yesterday,
A boy and his magic flute

something something something...

I've tried to remember that song over the years and never have been able to remember all of it. I'd kiss anyone who could give me all the lyrics. My sister and brother would get a huge kick out of it.

my friends and i were just talking about this the other day....we miss the following...some of them are not kid shows....
1) simon
2) Bewitched
3) Heart to heart
4) green giant
5) green forest
6) great space coaster
7) fragil rock
8) smurfs
9) muppett babies
10) remington steele
11) dynasty
12) knots landing
13) todays special

Originally posted by Jade LMAO about the "Maria story." You really asked her those questions or am I just gullable beyond belief?

I did meet, her, but I didn't actually ask her anything about Sesame Street. I was 16 and very much did not want to come off as a "geek".

Thanks for the hug.

By the way, did you know that there is actually no such word as "Gullible"? Jonathan Swift coined it in "Gulliver's Travels" to describe how people felt about Gulliver when he insisted his wild stories were true. [/B]

DIXON: the hug = my pleasure
NO I did NOT know about the "gullible" tidbit.. thanks for the info!

Ps: You had a crush on Maria.. didn't you!

EVE:

"Does anyone remember that cartoon Thundar the Barbarian, please someone say that they do or else, I'll feel like a total loser."

You are not a loser honey... I TOTALLY remember that show!

SIREN: I had no idea ... I thought you were closer to My age! lol... you are the cooooolest ! ;

Haha ... "I am actually going to meet these people and.. and .. and.. and HUG them?... WTF am I thinking?!" LOL!!

Gosh... now I almost feel cool!
I almost want to delete my other thread now dammit.
And yes DCL.. everyone knows it is ALL you!

Jade, some of the cartoons you are talking about, are still played on CartoonNetwork. I guess they are trying to keep the classics alive.

I remember the old cartoon like bugs bunny and speed racer and stuff that we all frew up to that my kids think are stupid and boring.

No they rather watch poke e mon which I do not understand at all. And rugrats and some really weird show called the wild thornberrys and stuff that doesn't even have any humor to at all.

I wish there were more entertaing shows for the kids the ones that we grew up to taught you morals but also had fun watching them now the companies are so worried about the violence they forget to entertain the kids or maybe it is just me I just wish cartoons were more like the old days.

I believe this would be the thread that will allow me to bring this up. Whos the idiot that thought up teletubies and who wants to help me kill him/her? I hate that stupid show!! My daughter loves it but oh my god its a half hour migraine!!
