What happens when a "Type A" sub/bottom is paired with a "Type B" dom(me)/top?

Netzach recently suggested in another thread that it would be nice to have a topic about "Type B" tops paired with "Type A" bottoms.

Let me start by giving definitions for what is meant by Type A and Type B:

"Type A is a temperament marked by excessive competitiveness and ambition, an obsession with accomplishing tasks quickly, little time for self-reflection, and a strong need to control situations."

"Type B is the opposite of Type A personality. The Type B personality is relaxed, uncompetitive, and inclined to self-analysis."

Want to know if you are Type A or Type B? Here is a 10 question mini-quiz. I don't know if it is perfect but it correctly identified me as a Type A personality.

Perhaps the expected dynamic would be that Type A personalities would be the dom(me)/top and Type B personalities would be the sub/bottom. Or you might have two Type A personalities where one surrenders to the other in terms of BDSM.

So what can we say about the situations where the Type B partner is the dom(me)/top over the Type A partner? Anyone with personal experiences?

All kidding aside, I'm always square in the middle of all these things and this one says I'm between A and B, like to get things done on time, but not killing myself or anyone else in the process, which seems accurate enough.

I would assert that there are plenty of type B dominants out there, just that we fall more along the lines of teacher/mommy/mentor/explorer. We probably are the ones with fewer rules, more creativity and kooky whims.

We're probably liable to have the slave keep the palm pilot and enter all pertinent info.

As a Type A personality, I have to fight very hard to remember to open up and "delegate" things to my partners. I usually remember to take breaks but I have to constantly remind myself not to be so hard-driving. Being domineering is a natural tendency and I have had to learn to change tempo or relax at times.

Personally, I don't think two Type A personalities could sustain a long term relationship, especially one that involves D/s.

Many Type A people are first borns (in family birth order) and in my experience, I have seen many relationships fall apart when both partners are Type A and first borns.

Or am I, as usual, completely off base?

So things went very well for us in the bedroom and we would have made good play partners, but ultimately the vanilla part of the relationship was too rocky for us to continue. (NOTE: Remember I identify as "full-time dominant but part-time master" on that domination scale.)

Not at all. That is what this whole thread is about. It would be interesting to hear from them. There are many Type A personalities who are submissive or masochists when it comes to BDSM.

For instance, in the MBTI thread by WriterDom, the only two people who are ENTJs were Impish and myself. She was a submissive/slave who used to post here. I suspect that she is also a Type A personality and I wonder what temperment her current partner might be.

So personal experiences are definitely welcome!

Birth order is really interesting to me.

(For instance, almost all of the U.S. Presidents were either the first-born child or the first-born son in their families, and all but two of the first astronauts sent into space were first-borns, and the other two were "only children"?)

From what I have observed, a combination of Type A and Type B can work well, provided the personalities mesh on other levels. Otherwise it can be a disaster!

For me it said that I am mostly a type B,lol...guessed I was before I took the test. But when does anyone believe a silly test like this any way? I am not sure if I am sub or a domme,but you never know what the world has in stored for you
