What Happened?

I'm blue . I just had my new story Post today.

It's called Possession.

I am very very proud of it. I think it is my best story to date. However its gotten 15 votes on its first day and has a score of 4.13. That's the lowest by FAR that I have ever EVER gotten on a story.

So could someone please read it and tell me...what happened? I got a great comment written about it. Nicest one I've ever seen, but they only voted 50%.

Someone please stroke my wounded ego.

I haven't read any of your other stuff, but the quality of your writing in Possession is quite good. There is tension, there is conflict, there is hot sex (probably a tad short for some, but I thought it was ok).

Your story involves unrepentant cheating. There are some voters on this site that HATE stories that involve infidelity, especially when it is a woman cheating. A single 1, 2, or 3 vote could really drag down your score.

Erotic couplings also can be a tough category as you probably know. Because it is somewhat broad the tastes of readers vary a lot.

Some people don't bother changing the % thing when they leave feedback. It's easy to forget sometimes, I'm sure that person intended better. Then again, I've gotten some glowing comments that only gave me 75%...

It's a good story, and I'm sure the votes will go up a bit with time. I've had more than one story start out around 4.2 but end up at or near 4.5. And while good scores are nice, I think it's important not to worry too much about the score of one individual story.

If you mean the comment labeled:

this was unbelievably passionate

then my suspicion is the score is a simple accident. Unfortunatley 3 is the default vote when leaving a PC. In this case the reader either forgot to change the score or believed 5 was the default. That's all. The person meant to give you a five, I'm sure.

One shouldn't put too much faith in votes anyway. If you like your story, that's what really matters- right?

Thanks guys!! I feel a little better. It's still tanking, but it's doing it gracefully and grandly now. So, what-a-ya-gonna-do? I think I'll write some more though with these characters.
