What happened to all of the doom and gloom economic threads?

There is a glut of natural gas. Everybody knows that. There’s so much of the latest multi stage hydraulic fracturing going on from New York State to Texas and all places in between, prices will be low forever. But just as a full watering hole can deplete quickly the current gas storage glut can recede. In fact it already has been and at an alarmingly brisk pace and there may be a confluence of other events which could hasten the process. Consider this. The weekly EIA natural gas storage numbers reported each Thursday came in with a 28 billion cubic feet (bcf) injection. The inventory increase last year at this time was 67 bcf while the five year average accretion was 74 bcf. So true that one week does not a trend make. But this makes eleven straight weeks that have experienced below average storage injections.

The price of natural gas is about 1/3 of what it was five years ago and there's going to be a crap ton more of it flooding the market due to the fracking boom. That's why it's cheaper.

Natural Gas is at a 10 year price low, and expansion of natural gas pipelines across the southeastern United States have made transport costs even less, but Just a Wuss insists that the federal government is somehow to blame.

Someone needs to slap the taste out of his mother's mouth for raising such an ignorant child.

The price of the natural gas fired power plant heating my home has gone up every year.

Prolly time for your nap.... you're going into your psychopathic mode with your vile and disgusting personal attacks.

So, let me get this straight; people warning about declining oil stocks= alarmist communists, people warning about declining natural gas stocks= sober minded defenders of freedom.

Exactly how big is your home if you don't mind my asking?

How would I know?

I made a statement.... re-read it.

Interpret it as you wish.

It's another one of your ridiculous questions.

It's not ridiculous at all. How do you know what the cost of your local power plant is and what is it? Simple question.

Dumb question.

My local power plant is my high efficiency gas fired furnace.

The price rises each year.

Three followup questions, then. Very simple ones.

1. Has the price increase you've paid for natural gas exceeded the rate of inflation?

2. Do you understand what "inflation" is?

3. If the answer to number 2 is "yes", do you also blame President Obama and/or the Democrats when your hourly wage increases due to inflation?

So this is your spin merc.

Why is your energy company charging more for natural gas every year when the price is coming down?

Perhaps they're spending a lot of money expanding their pipeline distribution system, while adhering to licensing and restrictive environmental gov't regulations.

I thought that strange as well and looked it up on the EIAweb page.

Prices here in the DC area have gone up to $18.50 even though the well-head prices have gone down (The EIA page has a plethora of data). I'm now drafting a strongly worded letter to Washington Gas.

More Data!

So now there are new natural gas regulations?

"Perhaps?"

I'd be interested to know if you get a reply. And if so, what is the reason.
Especially if the reason is new gov't regulation.

I'm sure they will send me some glad-handing response. Gas is the least expensive of my utilities, by far, though so I don't really care about it. Cable TV costs twice as much and generally sucks.

I don't know, I'm tossing it on the table.

Perhaps when they're digging pipe trenches, the environmental agencies are looking for the possible destruction of a rare breed of cockroaches....then halting construction...:D

I agree, gas is cheap enough, but I'll bet I could heat my home with a coal fired furnace a lot cheaper than gas, even buying the 80 Lb bags.
