What happened to all of the doom and gloom economic threads?

VASTLY improved aint putting food on the table or paying the rent and I hate to tell you, but jobs losses aren't stopping anytime soon. All I see is layoffs galore. I just read this morning about SF school board approving nearly 900 pink slips and city workers expect massived layoffs, this isnt stopping..

Actually it has already stopped. Sure there are areas that are still having layoffs. Even during an economic boom there are still layoffs. And even during the worst part of the recession there were places hiring. Don't let your own myopic perception keep you from seeing the big picture. Besides, we all know that employment is a lagging economic indicator, right?

I just don't think Obama took it seriously and grossly underestimated the unemployment numbers calling for 8% unemployment not so long ago. Instead he focused on healthcare and cap and trade.

Didn't focus on jobs? What about 800 billion dollars of economic stimulus, and job creation measures? http://www.propublica.org/special/the-stimulus-plan-a-detailed-list-of-spending

What about 246 Billion dollars in tax cuts as a segment of it to stimulate the economy? http://www.propublica.org/special/stimulus-plan-taxcut-list

You guys are criticizing Obama for not doing enough to help the economy - and also doing too much to help the economy. Nice.

The average American can't focus on two things at once. Since Health Care Reform is whats in the news Obama hasn't paid any attention to jobs (he was stupid enough to admit as much) he hasn't paid any attention to the war which caused him to take three months to make a decision that should have taken negative eight years to make. That's right, he should have approved the surge BEFORE he was elected just in case something crazy happened and he became president. I've already got plans on which units are going to invade Iran encase. . .well a lot of people have to die before I get ot become president. A guy can hope right?

The right wing nuts here accuse Obama of not doing enough to help the country out.

Then they criticize him for multitasking when he does stuff.

Classic.

FROM WHAT I HAVE SEEN...

In their eyes, the guy can't win.
Hence why they're being douches and going against anything that Obama passes, even if it's good for the economy. It's not about saving America for them, it's about winning.

don't talk to me abuot stimulus, waste of money. Job layoffs aren't stopping, it appears to be getting worse and finding a job after being laid off is taking longer now than ever. I expect a double dip because there are no customers out there...

Throwing money at a problem does not solve it. That is why you will see AIG begging for another bailout.

I wonder if we'll have to bail out Goldman Sachs again after they get sued by Greece for being instrumental in sinking their economy.

No doubt we will. The White House is full of ex-Goldman Sachs jerks.

No, what's best for the country is for obama and the government to get out of our business.

How specifically is he in our way? I haven't noticed him much at all as business owner. I've noticed Schwartzeneger but mostly helping me (accidently though it may be)

ever think that maybe they're saying no all the time BECAUSE they think it's bad for the economy? obama's racking up a ginormous fucking debt, with no real way to pay it down, plus they fear his health care "reform" will make things harder on individuals and businesses alike. so why should they say yes to that?

All will become clear if any of his socialist ideas ever manage to get through the Congress and the courts.

So you're argument is that the government ISN'T currently in our way but Obama will place it there?

On a side note why does nobody on the left point out that EVERY time the Health Care Bill takes a blow the Stock Market takes a blow?

I didnt know that, do you by chance have some graphs or links to show that?

Then I rephrase my former question. How, specifically, is hte government in the way currentely Devil Dog?

Also the same logic that says that the stock market took a plunge because Obama won the nomination suggests that its taking a plunge because the government isn't taking over health care. (not that Obama or anybody is talking about taking over health care but that's beside the point)

1. Housing construction reached a 35 year low last month.
2. Real unemployment / underemployment now exceeds 20%.
3. The only people supporting Obozo are blacks, goverment workers and other sucking off the tit of taxpayers, trial attornies.
4. Working, taxpaying Americans desparately want this nonsense to stop.

1) Wrongo, new housing permits and single-family housing starts have been up for the past 7 months.
2) Unemployment numbers were virtually unchanged from previous months, a BIG improvement over the end of 2008 and the first part of 2009.
3) Demonstrably false. I for one fit into none of those categories.
4) Opinion, everyone has them and they all stink.

actually things aren't as rosy as you kinda wish they were as far as residential starts or permits.

the economy *will* recover, but if it was the bush TARP program or the obama stimulus that helped, and to what extent, will be argued for the rest of our lifetimes.

i think a lot republicans get bitter when they see obama spending SO much time on health care (which a majority of americans no longer support), campaigning for other democrats, giving sound bite speeches, flying off to pick up prizes, etc. when the economy and jobs should have been his primary, and arguably his only, focus.

many even believe that he shouldn't have even taken that family trip to hawaii while millions of americans are unemployed and struggling. what, he can't go a year without a vacation?
