Yeah they were wrong about how bad the Great Recession would be. So was the Republican party - nobody on the right predicted the seriousness of the recession - and if a few did, they didn't say anything needed to be done about it.

But because of the Stimulus we have 3M-4M more jobs than without it and a 9% unemployment rate instead of a nearly 11%, and a much greater GDP. And we started the recovery earlier. AJ's link demonstrates all of this and gives an impressive amount of evidence.

I'm making a lot of money on these fluctuations with Greece. We all know they're not going to be allowed to go under. Every time there's a mini-scare though, the Dow drops, my buy orders kicks in.... Then when there's good news my sell orders kick in. Not including taxes, I've made enough to purchase a car in the past three weeks.

Also my BP stock has increased $61,000 in value off a relatively modest investment and now it's at the long-term capital gains rate.

Do you guys still not see how the Bush tax cuts heavily favor the rich?

Jen, the soldiers fighting in Afghanistan are very much pro-socialist.

Their military pay and benefits are all socialist. Their retirement pay is socialist. Their medical care both now and their future VA care are all deeply socialist. They live in socialized housing. And if they ever get killed they want their families to get socialized support through the government. When an IED explodes and damages their brain, they get care through me via a socialized government spending program (though I am a private contractor).

No I'm not rich because our net assets aren't at the level that can be called such. We did make six figures in capital gains last year, however that was a first and will not likely be repeated this year. My wife and I have combined salaries that exceed the threshold for the new medicare tax to fund health care reform though, so by some measure maybe we are rich.

Part of the reason I have a very high salary for my profession is that my job is on a US military base in Asia that's, well... Let's just say there's a travel advisory for this country. I got bacterial meningitis in this place that could have killed me - and I'm still living in pain from it (yes I realize the irony with my av). I have to work some nights and weekends and I'm on-call 24/7. It's an extremely difficult position to fill and therefore my company has to make it attractive somehow.
