Yes, a parade would do nicely. A big one with lots of naked men, please.

I think I've mentioned that I still see my elementary school principal out and about and it always makes me smile because he still greets me by name and asks about my siblings.

I ran into the mother of one of my first graders a few years after leaving and she told me he kept a certain something I'd given to him on his desk. She thanked me ~ it does go both ways but I still think I got the best part. :rose:

That is wonderful! I don't live in the same town I grew up in so, I have both the pleasure and work to build my reputation here.

The first time anything really moving happened to me was my second year teaching. The father of one of my students (then a sophomore) came up to me and wanted to tell me what a profound difference I had made in his daughter's life. He thanked me over and over and told me how much she has changed in that year. He attributed the positive change to her being my pupil and being on several competative teams I coach. I don't know that I made THAT much of a difference but, even if in some small way I helped her, I feel I've done my job.

A cool thing, is now that several of my students have graduated, they still keep in touch with me. The one I mentioned the other day, she is a graduate and the silly thing is she went to a restaurant that we stopped at on one of our many trips. She text messaged me to tell me that she was eating there and it made her think of me and she hoped I was having a great year.

That was nice, to know going to the Red Robin restaurant reminds her of me 9or all of the laughing we did on that trip). ;)

WFMS (and made me laugh my ass off):

My son, who had been drinking some blue too high in sugar drink (sighs--some days i am a bad mom) out of a bottle is yelling from the bathroom for his dad. His dad walks in the bathroom, and says "Your lip is blue."

(Sure enough-there is a half moon circle of blue just above the center of his lip--the perfect arc the size of a coke bottle opening.)

My son walks in the office--points to his lip, and goes:

"Uhh...blue lip...blue soda...oh my...blue lip...mommy...blue lip...blue soda..DUH!"

All the while, he's gesturing like some minature rapper.

oohh..that's cool silver

WFMS--hearing my son giggle in glee because he knocked over dominos in a chain reaction.
