What feeds your soul?

An honest discussion about life, love, and the unbearable pain that losing each other would bring~ and His making a decision about where We are going to live

Simple pleasures.
-A hot cup of coffee on a cold morning.
-A pretty sunset or sunrise
-Being able to see the stars
-Hugging my kiddo
-the smell of freshly mowed sweet grass

I think they feed my soul because they are simple. In a word where nothing seems to be easy and problems are complicated, it's nice to be able to reflect on the things that just are.

Thanks so much for posting this.

I think I'm going to go out and look at the stars now.

It's exactly what I needed to hear (see).

Last night we had some of my son's friends over for his bitrhday....it wasn't really a party so to speak, just some close friends, and he wasn't expecting it. We had kids (supposedly all young adults) running around our yard, playing wiffleball, music playing outdoors, kids swimming and a campfire until well after midnight.

Man I love it when I can see my kids enjoying life with their friends!
I must know Scaly -- did you do a cannonball into the pool?

I am smiling at the scene you've described, stuff like that make big amounts of soul food for me.

actually, once his friends started showing up (around 9....hell, i'm usually ready for bed around that time) I left the pool and went in the house (though i did attempt something that loosely resembled a 'jack-knife' when I first jumped in). really my only participation after that was getting pizza for them, and staying up to make sure everything was safe, everyone had a way to get home and the campfire was drowned. I did have to check the tiki torches every now and then...they moved around quite a bit. I was pleasantly surprised this morning to see that they had cleaned up almost everything.
How nice for everyone.

Years back when our folks were away we'd have parties. Our neighbors at first weren't too pleased. However, when they woke the next morning they found everything cleaned up and things fixed in their own yards they had a change of opinion. The major rule my brother had was we cleaned up, fixed things, etc within five houses in all directions. Often our parents never found out about the parties and when they did it wasn't from complaining neighbors.

wow, you must have had some good parties! too bad I didn't know you back then, i would have fit right in. :)

most of the big parties I had was when I shared a couple different houses with friends. one really got out of hand, and we called the cops on our own party. :p

but my favorite one was the one we put grain alcohol in the punch. talk about some shit-faced people. :D
Gotta love being young and dumb... our neighborhood was Irish Catholic and each day we filled four to five school buses! The parties were legendary but it was the ''what happens on X Street stays on X Stree''.

In college I seemed to have a penchant for themed parties. We had hat parties, Easter bonnet, Spring Vaca dress up and others that might feature a drink, my favorite being the kamikaze keg parties.

I have to say it was great fun and I wish I had half the energy I had back then.

spent the morning biking through an arboretum... fantastic ride and very happy that my bike didn't fall apart (those roots are rough as shit).

i'm all amped up now, but in about an hour i'm going to lapse into a coma i think.

i just ate a giant salad with romaine lettuce, vidalia onion, raw carrot fresh tomatoes and a homemade vinegrette... topped that bitch off with some fresh caught-it-myself rock and i was in heaven.

just had a very pleasing poo too. :)

now there's a blast from the past
i was watching the freddie mercury tribute concert ("a concert for life"). if you're a fan of queen you really have to see it... or even if you're not it's a great show.

"i'm in love with my car, got a feel for my automobile"

I think it's something i should see
i highly recommend it... just skip the finale where liza sings "we are the champions." an absolute disaster... not a song that should be sung in the "broadway stage" style. entirely too much vibrato.

Prowling through the local antique store and finding a circa 1930s amber depression glass creamer and sugar bowl that I have been searching for for months. :D

And they were in perfect condition--no chips, no scratches! :nana: :nana:
