The Art Institute is a fabulous place. I hope that you got to see some of their real treasures, like Sunday Afternoon on La Grand Jatte (Seurat) and Paris Street: Rainy Day by Caillebotte. Of course, I'm also partial to the stained glass windows by Chagall. I'm glad that you enjoyed your visit to the AI.jacuzzigal said:art
I had the chance to visit the Art Institute Museum of Chicago yesterday. I got to see several paintings, some famous and some not famous. Almost all intrigued me, from French Impressionists to contemporary Americans. There is something amazing and beautiful about art and I admire it and was in awe of it. And I feel like my soul is fed and expanded by being in its presence....

WFMS?
The teenage daughter of someone very dear to me confided in him that certain aspects of growing up scare her, that she isn't sure she wants to get married and have kids, that she's worried about being self-sufficient. He held me up as an example to her, an example of a woman who is self-sufficient and happy without being married or having kids. I appreciate the opportunity to be a positive example of other choices women can make. I didn't have an example of this as a teenager and it often left me feeling like there was only one path and any deviation from it was settling. It's possible that marriage and/or kids is in my future, but whether or not they are WFMS is choices and the honor of being thought of as a positive example for anything.
