What feeds your soul?

for people who want to be constipated, yet have a clear urinary tract. :D

I'm ignorant here, I don't understand why constipation? (being serious, I don't know.)

it was kind of a stretch to go for the joke... sometimes processed carbs (like white flour) constipate people... and bagels are kind of gummy, lending to that image. some poetic license i guess. a bit of a stretch though.

it made sense in my head.

It sounds like it makes sense now, I didn't know the side effects of processed carbs. I haven't had any problems, then again I only ate the one bagel.

Every day at work I make a bowl of oatmeal and put cranberries in it for sweetening. I didn't think of the health benefits, except I knew that both of them are good for you.

well... it was just a stretch for the joke... not a likely event by any means.

have you ever had steel cut oats?

No I haven't. I have the Quaker Old-fashioned. I've been told that the steel cut are the best.

i use quaker too... because it's the only one i can find. steel cut are supposed to be fantastic though. everything i've heard suggests that you'll never go back after having those.

I've heard that about other things, but not about steel cut oats. ;)

I'll just stick with Quaker since I can buy it in bulk at Costco.

Quaker Oats = a few minutes to cook.

Steel cut oats = about 45 minutes to cook.

Cooking in the morning is against my principles, but if I have to, I'd opt for the quick cooking time.

There's a lot on my mind tonight, but the main thing feeding my soul right now despite the things that trouble it, is a driving need I feel to take care of myself rather than sell myself short and/or settle for anything less than what I deserve. I'm not sure if this comes easily to anyone else, but it's a relatively new thing for me - until the last few years my natural inclination and first response was to sell myself short to keep others happy. To feel not only justified in standing up for myself now, but to have it be my first inclination, is so gratifying because it shows how much I've grown. I deserve the best, and I won't settle for less. And to be a champion for myself feeds my soul more than anything has in a long, long time.

wfms?

A rare and precious jg sighting! :rose:

It takes a lot to come to this type of realization and for many they never get to this point in their lives. It sounds like you have done a lot of soul searching as of late ~ I can relate with you and can say with 100% confidence, GOOD FOR YOU!!! We all have to look out for our own best interests. Rarely, is this a task that someone else will take on for us.

I'm glad to see you jg and hope everything is going well for you!

being reminded of louis armstrong's greatness. of him, bing crosby said, "american music begins and ends with louis armstrong," and truer words are rarely spoken.
