I received this prompt this morning and thought it was delightful. I wanted to share it here and see what the amazing minds and writers of our little community here brought to the table.

Post a link to the song, and then post a poem about what that song tastes like!

My favorite song is Bless the Broken Road by Rascal Flatts.

This is what that song tastes like to me

The Taste of Broken Roads

It begins like warm cornbread,

crumbs falling tender on the tongue,

a sweetness born from hunger,

filling the hollow of years.

Then comes the salt

tears stirred into gravy,

seasoned with longing,

a flavor that lingers at the back of the throat,

both ache and comfort.

Each verse is honey butter melting,

slow, golden,

sliding over the edges of sorrow,

making even jagged crust tender.

The chorus blooms like ripe peaches,

juice running down the chin,

messy, unashamed,

a taste that insists joy survives

even in the bruises of the fruit.

The bridge is coffee at dawn,

bittersweet and grounding,

a sip that steadies the hands,

whispers: the road was worth it.

And the aftertaste

is Sunday dinner at the table,

where every detour,

every burned edge,

every flavor finds its place,

together, whole.

Sour scones, decay's disguise,
clotted cream, bitter lies.

Lemon tarts, corrosive bite,
zesty claws that steal your sight.

Burnt macaroons, bitter-sweet,
filling like poison, too cold to eat.

Cookies mad, chaos spread,
honey's sting, soon doom and dread

Taste the darkness, hunger's call,
a feast of chaos, devours all.

Frühling
After Hesse, via Strauss

Crisp, cold sparkling wine
sipped in the clear mountain air—
you lie in the grass,
skirt spread like an opened fan.
I am suddenly hungry.

This is really well done, I was actually trying not to sing as I read...

I could taste it 🫶.

The imagery is refreshing Tzara, it brought me back to a few of my own memories... Of pressing apples..... 💝

Thank you

thank you. i decided to go with a quirky rhyme vs my minimalistic staccato style cuz the song demanded it. Thanks for the challenge

Culinary Exploration

It's my favorite song
when I hear it, a new flavor
I'm unsure of at first. It is
and isn't familiar, different

on the tongue, bitter perhaps
with hints of sweetness,
then a vinegary spice, Frank's
Red Hot Sauce, awakens me,
an amuse bouche

and I'm hungry for more
because it's delicious,
satisfying and meaningful,
a part of my world, a part
of me, gumbo that belongs
in me.

Pabst Blue Ribbon

Cheap beer
The roar of bass and guitar
Flowing through your body
Live gigs
The sweat
The clash of the pack
The mayhem of the pit

Fists raised
Oi! Oi! Broadsides

I am spinning in the washing machine
Of love
Picking myself off the sticky floor
Drunk
Surrounded by 809 of my best friends
feeling like it’s ‘85 again

At 58 im too old for this shit

Except
I’m not
