I know what the "N" (New), "H" (Hot, >4.5 rating), and "W" (Contest Winner) mean beside a story's listing. But what does an "E" mean?

Editor's Choice. Stories the site administrators especially like.

Wow. I didn't even know there was such a thing. Something to aspire to, for sure.

Thanks for the explanation.:)

Edit: Interesting that some of them appear on stories that aren't "Hot". Just goes to show there's a disparity between the admins' tastes and the broader community's.

Nope, nope all wrong. It means ‘Empty’ devoid of content 😀

More common in Lit's early days, rare nowadays.

In the several "E" stories that I have read, many in the "How-To" category, the information that Laurel apparently liked is often incorrect or outdated.

Purposeful downvoters target E-rewarded stories. This is a gaming site in voting. Votes don't necessarily have much of any relationship to story quality.

At a twenty-year-old site there are going to be outdated How-To essays, yes. It doesn't mean it wasn't good information at the time and/or E worthy. I have such an E-awarded How-To in the sr71plt account--on the atmosphere for publishing erotica to the marketplace some thirteen years ago. I think it was good information at the time. The reality of the marketplace is what changed subsequently.

Black Shanglan has 4 green E's out of (I think) 7 stories. An exceptional, though not hugely popular author.
