I want to purchase a ball gag to use with my partner, but I see there are all kinds, at all price levels. Would love some recommendations from people with experience.

Well you need to make sure what you want. Long enough head strap, can the breathe the ball or not.

Size is important ... especially if this is something he/she hasnt used before. Also, be careful about how the ball and strap attach so it doesnt cut into the edges of your partner's mouth.

My girl wanted me to use one on her for her first anal. I refused because if she wanted to back-out like her first attempt, I wouldn't know, and that would have been rape. The deed has been done, so next time, if she wants it - she gets it! :D

That's why you set up a safe signal, like hitting the bed three times, tapping your partner, dropping keys/a bell.

Start with a cheap one. But don't play too hard with it. We brought a beginners hollow plastic one and well, I ended up breaking it (and cutting my mouth on it as it broke). I also broke our first set of handcuffs... yeah I break things.

But I'd still say go for the cheapest you can find just to see if you like it. After that look for a good hard solid one.

I'd go with silicon. The other ones taste horrible!

Or maybe "silicone" (with the 'e' on the end), as I'm not sure if anyone would enjoy having a rock in their mouth while...well, doing much of anything!

Myself, I'd go with something inflatable. The "pacifier" shape is appealing, and the adjustable size might be helpful for a new experience.

I'm sure the non-taste aspect of the silicone would be a pleasing factor.

I really can't imagine an inflatable one being a good buy as a first one.

I'd say look for one with a machine washable strap and removable ball for easy cleaning. Offset buckles are also good so there's no annoying pressure points when she's got her head against something.
