to be when you grew up????

When I was younger I wanted to be a laywer, or a judge. Then when i got into high school I wanted to be an actress (till i found out i had stage fright!) I just wanted to know what yall's dreams were when you were younger, and if you have acomplished them. I am not any of the things I wanted to be, but I am a great mom, which I consider to be the best thing for me.... Even if I only have a job as opposed to a career, my kids will have everything they need.

Who out there decided not to have kids, and put thier career first? What led you to this decision? Thanks yall! Hope to read lots of different answers! shynsexy

I always wanted to be a police officer when I was a child in the U.S., then I went back to live with my father for some years, and that changed, when I saw how corrupt the police down there were.

Then I wanted to be an artist, till I found out they didn't make much money, so I went to school and learned computers, and art together, and make plenty o cash. Plus, I don't have to put my life on the line MOST days.

7 years old I wanted to be an artist, 10 years old I changed my mind I wanted to be an architect.

now 23 and I'm both :p

life is great

I wanted to be a person who lived in one place longer than six months.

I wanted to be a person who didn't have to live on welfare.

I wanted to never marry a man like the man my mother married.

I wanted to be a good mom.

Oh....and a ballerina.

Me?

An aeronautical engineer.

I ended up an engineer in medical research, then alternate energy sources, then nuclear weapons, then experimental weapons (Star Wars), then factory automation, then the stock market.

I now design and install concrete floor systems.

Can't say I don't have fun.

When I grow up . . .

I've always wanted to become a writer. Don't know what type but even when I was little, I wanted others to read what I'd written. However I'm more interested in money, so I'm studying to be an accountant.

Hey, maybe when I make enough money, I can take a break and write full time. Kids may come later (and that's a big if, cause it's all about me right now)!:D

Sewing teacher at a High School....

Never got there, the neartest was designing and making wedding dresses years ago.....

Now I'm a full time artist and writer.... I teach others my art in workshops so I get to teach......

Six feet tall and a writer. Didn't quite make the first one, but still working steady on the second one, whenever I get free time, and I feel inspired. :)

I've known since I was 7 that I wanted to teach.. I mean, I've always wanted to be an artist as well, but I figure that my artwork can be a side thing, when I have time... currently, I'm working on my teaching degree...

I'm told that I said I wanted to be a headmister,when I was 6.

The only thing I remember is wanting to be pilot in the RAF.That
lasted until I was 17 when I failed the medical.

So I joined the Army.:(

At a VERY early age, I can remember wanting to be a fireman or a policeman....then a brief flirtation with being a racecar driver.....

Then I saw my first play. "The Sound Of Music." At a local theatre in my hometown. And, at the tender age of 7, I decided to be an actor. And that passion continued throughout grammar school, junior high, high school, college and grad school.

So I ended up in LA and did the starving artist bit - got a lot of work in the early 90's.....which dwindled...and I decided to get a real job to keep the bill collectors at bay.

I still consider myself an actor, though it's been over a year since I've worked. And it depresses me - but I'm starting to get anxious to get back into the swing of things. Well...that and getting laid off in November has acted as a catalyst for gettting acting work again. I miss it all so much.

I really wanted to be a lawyer and my mum kept putting me off. At about 10 I wanted to be a doctor so I could look at bottoms. Then I wanted to be a priest, because I wanted to be good, then I wanted to be a mathematician, then I wanted to be a philosopher, then I wanted to be a headmaster, then I wanted to run a university, then I wanted to be sober.

Now I'm living in rural Normandy doing just what I want.

a fire engine
an astronaut
a priest
a doctor
President of the USA
an architect
a dentist
a hotel and restuarant owner
a writer
a business man
an English professor

~punctuated equilibrium~

now I want to make films

When I was five I informed my very old-fashioned grandmother that I wanted to be a big rig truck driver - my mother tells me that grandma wasn't impressed (I think that was the year she sent me a toy oven for Christmas, I used it to do scientific experiments on the heat tolerance of Barbies).

I always wanted to be an archaeologist. I wanted to travel to far off places and study ancient civilizations. It amazes me to learn about other cultures and traditions.

It's one dream that will not be realized in its full sense.

Writing is another dream, but one that I am able to pursue a bit more.

I wanted to be a cop.

A mounted one at that.

A chick in a uniform on horseback.
That was what i had planned.
Unfortunately,my brother, who was a lot older than me joined up.
And told my mother that the force was no place for a woman.

I became a housewife instead.

All thanks to my brother.

Fuck i hate him.

I wanted to be a Roller Derby Brain Surgeon...but that didn't pan out...so now I'm in school...studying stuff.

When I was 12 I wrote a paper on what I wanted to be when I grew up. I did it and have been doing it for the past 27 years. I guess I am tenacious...

An Astronaut. I remember the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo flights. I wanted to be one of them. But I could never get the math. The original 7 Mercury astronauts were, and still are my heros.

I also wanted to be a cop. That I did. And it was everything I though it would be. God I'd do anything to get back out on patrol. It really is a huge blast to turn on your lights and siren, and punch the gas.

Now, I just want to be normal again. Walk without pain. And go back to my job, which was way down towards the bottom of my list of wanna be's. High School teacher. I am good at it, I enjoy it. But, I am not an Astronaut. :(
