FDR pulled the same stunts, to divert attention from what he was really doing....that is, passing laws that rewarded unions, decreased industrial competition, confiscated all the privately owned gold, and created many new social welfare programs that remain today (social security, AFDC, unemployment compensation etc). When the Supreme Court said, FUCK YOU, FDR! He tried to pack the court and force out the justices who opposed the New Deal laws. The supreme court was FDRs gun issue.
