What are your goals as a writer?

Do you just want to publish here on lit?

Do you want a NY Times bestseller in the next 10 years? (or sooner?)

What do you write "professionally" and what do you write "for kicks"?

Are you happy with where you are as a writer? (In that you're publishing or not at the level you want to be at)

What are your thoughts?

I'll answer my own q's...

While I love writing, and am certainly proud of what I've accomplished so far, I think I still have quite a ways to go. One of my goals this year was to be paid for my writing by the end of the year, and to do well in the Survivor Contest. However, with my school schedule (I'm overloading on courses so that I can be done by December) and with teaching full time, I just don't seem to have the time to devote to my work. To be realistic, I need to finish my degree before I can really put as much effort into writing as I'd like.

At the moment, my ultimate goal is just to be published and to be able to see my book on the shelf at a bookstore.

My more realistic and short term goal is just to finish my novel in progress...within a year of graduating. Right now, I just scribble down snatches of scenes and ideas as they come. I know my characters really well, so I try to keep a dialogue with my characters .

Dear DN,
With all that, how do you have time to write anything? Here I am, with time on my hands for the first time in my life, and I'm not writing at all. Woe is me.

What are your goals as a writer?
To make money. To write a story good enough for publishing. To make money. To be famous. To make money. To have my stories made into films. To make money...
(Hey, I'm broke! OK?)

Do you just want to publish here on lit?
Nah. I publish my HP-stories on another site (much more appreciated over there! *sticking nose in air*)

Do you want a NY Times bestseller in the next 10 years? (or sooner?)
Ehmmmm... "duh"..?

What do you write "professionally" and what do you write "for kicks"?
I write sex stories for kicks, and I'm working on a feminist novel professionally.

Are you happy with where you are as a writer? (In that you're publishing or not at the level you want to be at)
No, I want to develop. I like Lit, because it's inspired me to actually get some of all my story ideas down on paper. I had a HUGE writer's block before I found this site. Playing around in here has been a way to release the pressure, and just have fun while writing.

What are your thoughts?
I want to publish a story and make a lot of money!!!

Swedish, as all my stories are (unless they're for Lit or RestrictedSection - I always write them directly on English.

Then you must be sure it is a bestseller so that it gets translated into English just so I can read it.

Well, to be honest, it's not so much a fictional novel as it is an analysis of women's situation today.

What are your goals as a writer?

To improve as much as possible, to always be happy with what I've produced and find enjoyment in writing.

Do you just want to publish here on lit?

No, I'm happy with that for now because I don't really think I'm ready for anything else yet. There are a lot of aspects of my writing that need improved upon before I even think about being published elsewhere.

Do you want a NY Times bestseller in the next 10 years? (or sooner?)

Would be nice, but realistically I know that's not going to happen.

What do you write "professionally" and what do you write "for kicks"?

All of mine are for kicks at this point, learning experiences and ego builders.

Are you happy with where you are as a writer? (In that you're publishing or not at the level you want to be at)

Yes for now I'm right where I should be. A few ryears down the road and I'm still only here I may have a different answer.

What are your goals as a writer?

To write. Professionally would be nce, but it may not be in the cards. I'm getting older, y'know?

Do you just want to publish here on lit?

Hell, no. But I don't mind publishing here. It's a great site, but let's face it, no one ever achieved the publishing goals doing so for free, especially on a site that doesn't refuse stories based on poor quality.

Do you want a NY Times bestseller in the next 10 years? (or sooner?)

It'd be nice...

What do you write "professionally" and what do you write "for kicks"?

Professionally? I haven't published professionally yet, but my more serious work tends to be horror or suspense, things of that sort. I'm not a slice-of-life style author. Touchy feely isn't my style either.

Are you happy with where you are as a writer? (In that you're publishing or not at the level you want to be at)

No. But I'm a perfectinist still (I'm working on it, okay?) and if I were in Stephen King's shoes, I'd probably not be too happy either. Just the way I am.

What are your thoughts?

My thoughts? I try not to have too many. All they do is get in my way.

What are your goals as a writer?

I only play in the park with my mates and some passersby, we use jumpers for goalposts (expensive replica kit occasionally).

Gauche

very gauche goals

I myself (who else?) go it alone using my imaginary four-poster sleighbed (also my dream bed, quite a different thing than the imaginary).

If a webcam is available so much the better.

Perdita sans 'writerly' goals

Goals? We need goals now?

I guess my biggest goal is to breath as long as it's possible for me to do that. I write because I can't not write, and some of what I have written has been published including my books under another pen name. I write what I hope will be entertaining to those who read it, and also give them pause to think. If that's not enough then tough.

Improvement.

No. For God's sake, no.

Couldn't care less.

Absolutely irrelevant.

Never likely.

Fractious. Reactionary. Contrary.

What are your goals as a writer?

To improve my english. When it took me a few attempts to pass my english exam and I think that at the end I was just lucky, this is not helped by the fact that I'm also slightly dyslexic (so my spelling generally sucks dead donkeys through a hosepipe). I also want to grow the creative part of my mind as working in an office all day just does not do that. On top of that it allows me an outlet for the thoughts and fantasies that I don't necessarilly want to act out on but that do pique my interest in some way.

Do you just want to publish here on lit?

Hmm, ultimately I would say I'm not too bothered, as long as it gets a viewing and I can get feedback on it then I'm happy for it to appear anywhere. That's what I like about this site and why I chose it for my first story.

Do you want a NY Times bestseller in the next 10 years? (or sooner?)

No, I'm publicity shy. :) Ultimately, it would be a crowning achievement but I don't think I'm going to do it.

What do you write "professionally" and what do you write "for kicks"?

No, professionally I'm an office worker, this is just my creative outlet.

Are you happy with where you are as a writer? (In that you're publishing or not at the level you want to be at)

For the moment I am just starting out so yet, but I would love to be able to get enough good stories together to be published outside of the internet.

What are your thoughts?

They're the processes that go through my head on a daily basis but I'm guessing that's not what you meant :)

You've got a good start: wit. Liked your last line and this one: "sucks dead donkeys through a hosepipe".

best to you, Perdita :rose:

What are your thoughts?

1. To, someday, be able to support myself at it. To continually challenge myself and improve my skills. To write things that people will enjoy reading.

2. Nope, nor am I. At the moment, I have eight books in print and various short stories published.

3. That'd sure be nice!

4. Professionally, I write fantasy novels, horror novels, kids' books, and short stories at the moment. For kicks, I write fanfiction and naughty stuff for Literotica.

5. I'm happy, but that doesn't mean I'm necessarily content. I want more.

6. My thoughts at the moment are groggy; I was up too late gaming a ferocious elves-against-orcs pirate battle. Only been up for 20 minutes.

Perdita,

Thank you, I just wish sometimes that I could come up with them a little quicker than I usually do.

What are your goals as a writer?
To write what I want to write. For fun and profit.
For lit stories, I want people who read them to masturbate furiously.

Do you just want to publish here on lit?
I have.

Do you want a NY Times bestseller in the next 10 years? (or sooner?)
That would be nice.

What do you write "professionally" and what do you write "for kicks"?
Both.

Are you happy with where you are as a writer? (In that you're publishing or not at the level you want to be at)
Never.

What are your thoughts?
Uh?
