When you write stories, do there seem to be consistent themes that are raised in each of your stories or do you jump from genre to vastly different genre?

I tend to stick to similar themes, trying to diversify them enough so they don't seem too similar. You?

I like having a twist in mine, no matter what genre. I love taking the reader by surprise. :D

Yes. I call it "sex".

An M. Night Shyamalan type 'tweest'? lol

I'll write what ever pops into my twisted little mind.

Just finished first draft of a paranormal SF with a touch of the Old West.

Next is either the one about the TV show that causes people to give up their souls. Or my D/s mature lesbian romance with the HEA.

:D

I enjoy experimenting with all genres, but lesbian and groups are my favourite writes. I love the slow sensuality of two women, even if strangers, and I love the fast pace that a group scene requires.

As for themes in my erotic short stories? I have recently noticed that much of my work revolves around new experience themes, ie. first time lesbian, gay, anal, bdsm, group. I believe this is because in my own life I've had many lovers due to my "open relationship" concept of life and living and only a few long term and monogomous relationships. I also gravitate towards scopophilia and the triad theme of voyeur/exhibitionist and the eyes that control both. Recurring themes include dichotomies of fantasy/reality, sadism/masochism, (in truer form than BDSM allows) fire and water elements.

I'm sure there are more, but that's all I can think of at the moment.

Genres? Queer.
I write M/M, F/F, and F/M- but almost never your normal hetero encounter... I write a lot 0f BDSM, but what I'm interested in is the sexual/power exchange aspect, and I seem to have a little kink towards outdoor sex, like in mud, or rain. But maybe that's just because we're looking at drought conditions around here!

I like to bring two different kinds of people together- a gay bottom and a butch dyke top, an arrogant "woman of the world" with a reclusive shy girl, a self-confident libertine with a slightly prudish straight man-- My characters get pushed past their limits every once in a while.

Probably my most consistent theme is hedonism as a force against evil. Sex as empowerment.

And while Charley's lesbians are doing their "slow and sensual" thing, mine are readying themselves for their third go-around haha!) Sensual I do- slow, hardly ever. My women do rough sex.

I like the hetero 'forbidden love' angles, also impregnation. That stuff seems to find its way into things I write and things I want to write.

You know, I'm just about to deal with an impregnation in a story, and my heroine hauls the zygote out and drops it into cryogenic suspension without thinking twice about it.

Remembering why I love science fiction!

Hmmm. Seems your question has been in the back of my mind all day. Writing, and being part of an online community for that matter, is new to me as of late 2006. A story popped into my head and and took an unexpected twisted little turn and got such a positive response I did a few more in that vein. I've done mild femdom, MFF, MMF, MM, MF, FF non-erotic, and the story lines have been all over the map, though others have certainly written in many more categories than I have. I seem to be evolving toward writing stories that have a hint of plot and a whiff of character development. I imagine that's a good thing. :)

"A whiff of character development" lol

That's just funny to me, for some reason. It describes how people are in pornos. lol You don't want to know too much because it doesn't matter. "Just fuck already!" lol

gee, I wish I could write, but all I can come up with is a series of short grunts, a giggle and then a guy making a fart sounds with his armpit.

You know us ignorant natives.

I want to do a story about an older, middle-aged guy who starts having a torrid affair with the babysitter who ends up blackmailing him, getting pregnant with his kid, extorting him for a lot of money, causing him to get divorced and utterly ruining him. Then the guy gets even. But I know there had to have been, like eight, TV movies done about the exact same storyline.

To hell with it, I'll probably write it anyways. lol

LOL  - well I simply love the erotic lead up, Stell. I do hard, but it usually involves my hand or a dildo.

Unfortunately, I think I write the opposite way. lol I do 85% character development and 15% fucking. lol

I didn't make myself clear either-- Jomar's current work is a long involved adventure novel, and he has to keep reminding himself to let the characters screw once in a while!

He was being understated when he said "A whiff of character development" :)

LOL I completely understand. My current project is at 130 pages and there was a 30 page stretch with no fucking so I had to go back in and insert a sex scene after about 10 fuckless pages. lol

Did it have a whiff of character development in it?

In the sex scene? If you call describing the exchange of bodily fluids amidst a cacophony of grunts and profanities 'a whiff of character development'. lol

Please don't tell me your women scream "I'm CUMMMMING!!! :p

Are you saying that there can't be no 'whiff of character development' during a sex scene?

Btw, do your jaws hurt from 'lol' too much?

A tincture then? How much character development can a stroker have? :) Next time out I won't be able to make the same claim, will I?

No, they don't. lol To me, that's like writing an action scene, a guy gets shot in the chest and yells "A bullet just went through my chest!!! Gah!!!". lol
