All it takes is a lot of money. At least we got a sexy first lady this time.Thinking about today’s inauguration had me depressed; then I changed my outlook.
President Obama’s election showed, I think, that most Americans were willing to overlook race in our leader. Thus, it appears to me that today is a great leap forward for the factually impaired. Our leaders don’t have to be bothered with out of date attributes like honesty. Likewise, those without decency can rejoice – they will be accepted by many others. If you thought your racist, or sexist, ideas were out of touch – embrace them; they won’t hold you back any longer. You don’t have to be intelligent, or show respect and class. Self-control, reasoned debate or discussion, things that seemed to be barriers to holding our highest office – that glass floor has been shattered. Our leaders are free to go as low as their aspirations can take them.
