Most people are killing selfies these days. Around the touristy areas, everyone is taking a photo of themselves with the pretty shit in the background. I can’t tell you how many 55 year old Chinese women are killing it, selfie-style in Europe. I feel a little ridiculous just taking pictures of shit. But I’m doing it to remind myself of why I’ve been lucky, when I’m 85 and nearly senile. I’m not doing it to prove to someone else that I was actually there.

But even if I wanted to leave my mark by selfie-sticking myself across Europe, I’m pretty sure I’d be bad at it.

I am thankful to be part of this community of perverts and weirdos and for their kindness and support.

My mother passed last month; my father took it hard and developed his own health problems that compounded the grief.

Yesterday he had a stroke and was medevaced to a hospital with a stroke center.

I got word as I was driving to see him that he was talking.

So there seems to be no severe, permanent damage.

I did not know any of the yesterday so I started thinking worst case scenarios and got a little dramatic with my post.

Given all his risk factors, he is lucky.

I am so glad to know that people here are willing to reach out and be kind.
