I’ve been having muscle spasms in my neck since the choking/choke slam issue last month that have progressively gotten worse. I went to the doc today and she gave me a shot and an anti-inflammatory. Unfortunately, because of my anxiety meds I can’t take a muscle relaxer. She told me to use heat, take the meds twice a day and see what happens. I just asked if my husband would go to the store and get me some icy hot. He says, “maybe tomorrow after work.” What in the actual fuck?!

Heat makes things expand and swell. Ice is best since it's inflammed.
Ice ice baby

I totally agree. Heat will flood the area with blood giving your muscle fibers no room to relax. Cold will send the blood away, clearing the spaces & allowing your muscle fibers to relax.
Icey hot won't do it. Ice wrapped in a thin towel, put it on the affected area for about 15 - 20 minutes, take it off for 15 minutes, back on for 20, back & forth like that. Cold like that has a much deeper & prolonged affect.
Your doc is a quack.

Icy hot helps with muscle issues and I’m having muscle spasms, that’s why I wanted it. My chiropractor (Tuesday) and my doctor (today) said to use heat and not ice. Tuesday, the chiro sprayed the area with bio freeze. I honestly don’t give a fuck what I use, I just hurt and want it to stop.
