What Are You Thinking? Continued 14

I love the library and hope they live on forever. Bookstores too. And record stores. The internet has rendered a lot of these things close to obsolete but the experience of picking up a book or record can't be beat.
The kids love records! They are a big thing again. All the cool kids buy them and they have digital Bluetooth record players. I want one. 😁

Yep...my daughter is buying vinyl now as well...
I have my mom’s and am adding to the collection. 🥰🥰🥰
I have to buy most of my records online since the artist are independent and not in a label. You have to buy them directly from the artist or label. The big guys are out!
I also love that you can listen to an album sample before you buy. Save your money if it’s crap. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

That's so awesome! My vinyl collection is kinda huge at this point. And yes, the Bluetooth hookup is a must at this point. ;)

It is MUCH harder to make it as a ROCK STAR these days, everyone can basically record ONE song and put it on Apple or Spotify. Most band do make their money from concert ticket sales and merch!
They were living on credit before. Record companies owned their souls. That’s why you had artist like Prince change their name or Taylor Swift re-record her whole discography. 🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏾‍♀️
They made Pennie’s on album sales. New deals are more far and artist are wiser going in. Or so I have noticed.

I was thinking how interesting it would be if anyone could look at any other person and know instantly how many orgasms that person has had in his or her lifetime. No one could hide it from anyone. For instance, you check out at a supermarket and you can tell with just a glance how many orgasms your cashier has had, and he knows the same about you. How and why and with whom (if anyone) are all unknown; there is just a grand total. There would be some people who shamelessly add to their numbers, and others would be stuck on one number for weeks or years. People would come back to work after vacation, and everyone could see that the number had jumped higher by a dozen during the week they were gone. Or your roommate comes back from a shower with her number now up by one, so you know what happened in there. Some people would have zeroes. Would they be considered pure, or would they be considered broken? There would definitely be a code of etiquette that develops around this, but what would it be like? Would it be considered very rude to mention anyone's number in a social situation?
I love this. But fuck. Do we have a tally book? I could never remember what there count WAS. I guess we would have a select few that we keep running tallys of.

I do! I love the library. We have many cool programs and all my kids volunteered at the library…

I go to the library regularly and take my girls! But if I can get a book from the library on my kindle, I'll do that instead.
Y'all are awesome!

Ever go there just to get away. Some quiet time away from work, school, home? Ever have anyone ask you out from the library? How about a hookup?

I saw an old gf at a library once. She seemed fairly irritated to see me there. I mean, we split almost 30 years ago, but it wasn't a bad split, I thought. I didn't really recognize her until she turned around and left. 😂🤣

One GOOD thing it got rid of is getting LOST. MAPS on cell phones make traveling SO much easier now!
Omg YES! I did a cross country road trip just with Google Maps. It's amazing.

Yeah some of those platforms are atrocious for artists. The good thing is that live shows will never go away. But even THAT can be hard to make money on.

The music industry as a whole is in a weird place. People don't even NEED record companies anymore for the most part. It's in a transitional stage still. The game is morphing. Into what? We shall see. But music itself will never go away.

Yes. It’s a place for some solitude
Ever have anyone ask you out from the library?
Haha. Yes actually
How about a hookup?
Annnnnd yes again.
I had a fling with a TA in college. We never actually talked. I’d just find him and we’d have fun, then I’d leave. One day I just didn’t go back. 🤷🏻‍♀️

You shunned her!

Only in my dreams, MrT.

Why do people go to the library? Are libraries still important to people? They must be, as they are still in operation. With so much information and entertainment available at your fingertips through the internet, is it losing relevancy? Is it still a central community hub for activities? Am I the only one in my circle that still goes to the library regularly? At all?
I haven't been to our public library in a long time mostly because they got rid of books that I was interested in. It also receive state funding as long as they provided GED testing, etc. I lost interest in going there.

University libraries are important for the research aspect that they provide. Though you can find a lot of info online. Not all information is available there.

I'm sunburnt, windburnt, and feel like a few pegs were torn out from underneath me today. Time for a shower, a beer, and zoning out.

My daughter and I are regulars at our local library. I used to check out many books at once, but now I primarily use Libby to borrow audiobooks from the library. Our local library, however, also has the most amazing maker space and that has us there as often as weekly. There are also game nights and a variety of events that do draw in folks as a community hub.
