What Are You Thinking? Continued 14

Too late to start watching Nosferatu?
Nahh..lets do this

It’s not…but trust, your time would be better spent watching Bram Stoker’s Dracula…the 1 with Gary, Winona and Keanu
I recommend Renfield for that Dracula kick. It was so much better than I expected. And kinda wholesome in a super gross way

They can never make me hate Keanu's terrible accent and bad wig either in BSD.
Winona Forever!

It is beautiful in some ways. And the cast? Some great actors, and Keanu. But...

"This is going to be true to the novel." Then they make Dracula the hero and turn it into a love story. Mina is a truly powerful, strong, brave character in the novel, which considering it was written by a man in 1897, is an amazing thing .They take all of that away from her. All of it.

Sorry, sorry, I get you have Oldman, so you don't want bookDracula (who was basically a rapist), but I just hate they do Mina so dirty...

A proper adaptation that really let's Mina shine as more than just "love interest" would actually be amazing

She hated Dracula, for what he did to Lucy ( turning her into a child-murdering monster) and to herself. She put her body and soul in danger to help hunt him down and destroy him. The men in the novel are in awe of her. Her agency in a 19th century novel is amazing for the time, and I sort of love her.

No, I'm a Keanu fan too....
But...he was a horrible casting choice for it.
They should have found someone less Bill and Ted for it.
I mean, if we are going watch a Englishman get cucked by Dracula, lets make it Hugh Grant. 😂😂😂
But Keanu tried!!

And I think he and Winona were actually somehow (but not really) married during the making of it.
Which is a funny bit of trivia.

Oh he was awful in it absolutely but I still love it. He was perfect for 12 year old me who still loved pretty boys but was getting into gothic stuff 🤣
And Hugh Grant back then wouldn't have been a good Jonathan. He was still in his simpering fop era - see Sense and Sensibility a couple of years later

And yes I love their friendship!

Ok, fair.. so now I have to find a better actor.
Hmm. Johnny Lee Miller.
At least he's English.

Fair, but still…Gary Oldman is fucking fantastic in everything he does.

Also, don’t love how some adaptations have Lucy as a Scarlett-at-the-picnic flirtatious socialite with 3 suitors who coddle the fuck out of her, but meh 🤷🏻‍♀️

I disliked Hugh in his sputtering heartthrob era (Sense and Sensibility was great mostly because of every single other actor in the ensemble, and Mickey Blue Eyes was actually funny, but the rest of his movies are pretty unwatchable for me), but am totally here for his new villain era!

Not as bad as Keanu doing Shakespeare. That was painful. I like him, but his acting has limitations.

I really like Keanu in everything else he's been in. Just not this one.
