I had a friend who for many years has just had an Amazon wishlist akin to a marriage registry that he just points people tooIf someone close to you flat-out asks what you want for Christmas, is it rude to ask if they have a price range in mind? :x Like I have several ideas and don’t want to bombard them with a long list when one gift is more than enough, and don’t want to name something that may be out of their price range either.
I don’t think so.If someone close to you flat-out asks what you want for Christmas, is it rude to ask if they have a price range in mind? :x Like I have several ideas and don’t want to bombard them with a long list when one gift is more than enough, and don’t want to name something that may be out of their price range either.
....I got you...
I guess I should have been slightly more specific. It’s my dad. He asked me days ago and I’ve been so sick I completely forgot. He’s one of those men who aren’t great at thoughtful gifts and ends up getting me gift cards…usually for amounts that don’t fit the store they’re for. What if you asked what they’re thinking of getting someone you both know? Get a sense of how much they’re spending on them?
Nope! Nope nope NOPE! All the nope! See above.Just tell them you want to see their dong. That's in everyone's budget!
I would say pick one thing in the middle.
I also have a tendency to let those who get me gifts have access to my Amazon for ideas.
That's just how it works for me though.
Luckily, hugs are always appreciated and cost-effective.![]()
Ahhh…I have very organized lists (multiple categories for each retailer that allows it), all hidden. They’re more for me to curate the things I want and what will go together, but am terrible at asking others for anything, whether it’s help with tasks or material goods. Historically, my parents and significant others have been the rare exceptions, but it’s still difficult for me.I had a friend who for many years has just had an Amazon wishlist akin to a marriage registry that he just points people too
I myself would prefer to normalize deconsumering But in the absence of that I see no problem leaning into it to get what you actually want.
Okay. *Sigh* LOL I don’t know why hours-ago-Me thought that hearing that would make actually asking it any less awkward!I don’t think so.
Yikes! Ok. I rescind my suggestion.I guess I should have been slightly more specific. It’s my dad. He asked me days ago and I’ve been so sick I completely forgot. Or you're a bit too hard on yourself.it's funny how good I am at shooting off my mouth and embarrassing myself.![]()
Me too. Bastards.I’ve had enough of working today…
It's the thought that countsMy family asked me to make cocktails at Christmas Dinner. I make pretty good eggnog, but my sister requested a dairy-free eggnog this year if I could make one. I am a good brother, so I tried. Well, technically, I succeeded making an oat milk and coconut milk eggnog. I hope she likes it, because I do not...
I appreciate that. She likes oat milk, so hopefully it will fit in her flavor profile. It's the thought that counts
And the effort. That’s appreciated too. More than you’re probably aware.I appreciate that. She likes oat milk, so hopefully it will fit in her flavor profile.
I like oat milk more than moo milk but I've never thought of using it in a cocktail.I appreciate that. She likes oat milk, so hopefully it will fit in her flavor profile.
