It seems a lot of forum members who have published stories on lit won't even engage with you in pm unless you have read several if not all of their stories.
Even then all they want to talk about is their stories.
Sorry babes, you and I are having our first argument.I have noticed that some are so focused on their stories it's nuts. They even have posts that are ads for them.![]()

I'm curious, what type of engagement are you looking for from a person that, for all intents and purposes, seems to be here for their writing? It seems a lot of forum members who have published stories on lit won't even engage with you in pm unless you have read several if not all of their stories.

Very valid points,I find it interesting that there seems to be a negative element to your post. A lot of people were originally drawn to Lit because of the stories and so it makes sense (to me) that the stories remain their main focus. And if this is the case, then why is that a negative? Just because this place oozes sex doesn't invalidate the writers choice to be here *only* to talk about their writing (even if THAT is just about sex also).
I've written stories here and whilst I don't advertise it beyond linking them in my sig, I do take my writing seriously. Most people I engage have never bothered to read mine. It doesn't offend me and I don't use it as a deciding factor whether to engage with them. However, I am acutely aware whenever someone claims to be interested in me but doesn't bother to read even one of my stories even when I express that I take it seriously. It's like a significant part of who I am is dismissed. It's your prerogative not to spend time reading someone's stories. It's my prerogative to decide if that's an important factor to me or not.
If you don't respect why they're here then why are you trying to engage with them?
And to be even more argumentative, why is it a bad thing for authors to promote their work however and whenever they feel like, on what is a site that encourages writing?
If they are here just for their stories and promoting such....how am I to know that without engaging them?I'm curious, what type of engagement are you looking for from a person that, for all intents and purposes, seems to be here for their writing?
Also I like reading true stories not fictional ones. Vast majority of the stories seem fictional to me.I find it interesting that there seems to be a negative element to your post. Very valid points,
I didn't come here to read erotic stories I came to the forum for the interactivity and have only read a handful of stories, just not my thing really.
It wasn't meant to be negative just a simple statement of fact
I clearly struck a nerve. Wasn't my intention at all. That's fair enough. But to me that simple statement of fact was not too dissimilar to the people who come on here then point out the 'fact' that most women on here are bots. Why the need to point it out aside from what seems to be an underlying tone of 'why is it so difficult for me to meet someone?' and that is your own personal issue.
Writers and their proud ownership of their stories are fact on Lit. The effort and time it takes to write a story and then publish it here is generally a great deal. They're doing no harm by expressing their preferences. That should be a fact but maybe it isn't since more than one person on this thread has commented about what authors do and don't do.
If they are here just for their stories and promoting such....how am I to know that without engaging them?
Especially if they are in the forums that don't pertain to writing.
There is an author's hangout area I never tread because it just doesn't interest me.
I clearly struck a nerve. Wasn't my intention at all.
I do take issue with your "why is it so difficult for me to meet someone?" comment.
Comical in it's accusation
I read all profiles and recent messages before I pm someone. How else would I know I would want to have a conversation with this person? This is a fair comment that relates to anyone who is looking for something specific. If you don't link it in your sig or put it in your profile making it clear then you can't complain that X has messaged you about something else. Of course, it's also up to the interested person to click and read their bio - I know many who pm me and haven't done this - that's on them, not me to know I'm married blah blah blah.
However, I would also argue that the writer has every right to be anywhere they want to be including playing on the threads, and that still doesn't mean it's green light go for action.
Your implication was I was complaining because I can't meet anybody here. And that is so not the case it was comical to meStruck a nerve? Hmmm, interesting use of words. Because I disagree and am vocal about it? Or because I'm not usually so argumentative and I've surprised you?
I don't doubt it wasn't your intention and it wasn't my intention to do any other than offer you an alternative perspective.
I'm not sure what you mean by the comical thing, but that's fine.
Oh no, you didn't!Also I like reading true stories not fictional ones. Vast majority of the stories seem fictional to me.
And I have no problem with authors promoting their work, the problem I have is when that is ALL they want to discuss
No, we're not.Sorry babes, you and I are having our first argument.![]()
I understand that. My point of view is that if that's their thing, let them be. I don't see it any differently to those who come here only to find a specific kink match. They have one thing in mind and that's it. That's their goal, that's their passion. No, we're not. I'm fine with people writing, reading, heck... even promoting. I was just saying that some people take it to the extreme. I had a few stories under my initial username, but they got deleted with that profile. Another author I talked to was legit obsessed with the ratings he got. To the point that it was all he wanted to discuss.
Writers can do whatever the fuck they want. Never claimed otherwise.Oh no, you didn't!
Ok, sticking with my original comments about how writers can do what they please here. You have a problem with them only wanting to talk shop?
I gotta stop before I actually get annoyed now. I like you but I'm not going any further on this.
Exactly what I was trying to convey. Thanks for stating it in a much clearer way than my attempt! No, we're not. I'm fine with people writing, reading, heck... even promoting. You are taking this way too personally. Imo
I like interacting with you on the threads, you are extemely funny, and we have exchanged a couple pms even iirc and I never got the vibe that you only wanted to talk about your stories at all.
I don't even look at links to people's stories from their profile because reading erotic stories is just not that interesting to me.
This one guy was odd. He wanted sexy time and messaged me for that purpose, but couldn't stop talking about his stories. That "friendship" didn't last too long. If we both agree we want to do the nasty, don't leave me hanging dude!I understand that. My point of view is that if that's their thing, let them be. If they're upfront about it and the conversation isn't what you're after, then it's a non-starter and move on.![]()

How do I get you to agree to do the nasty with me?This one guy was odd. He wanted sexy time and messaged me for that purpose, but couldn't stop talking about his stories. That "friendship" didn't last too long. If we both agree we want to do the nasty, don't leave me hanging dude!![]()
