Stupid ex wouldn't ever let me listen to them because, to him, I was deliberately making myself feel bad so that he'd "have to deal with me". He would break my cds to show me that he knew what was best for me.
Stopped listening to the music I enjoyed for years because I started to associate it with punishment.
Getting slowly back to myself now though and the monthly song thread has really helped with that.
