Shaking my head at the all the religious discussion on a porn board.

On another note, catching up with laundry and making dinner. Back to work tomorrow.

I've been ignoring it. I don't want to get embroiled in a religious discussion this time.

Enjoying time with my family and harassing my wife.

Keep it up hot stuff and we'll see who's the one that gets all tied up tonight.

tries to give and evil stare but gets distracted by his sexiness and instead purrs a little, digging nails in his chest.

You asked me to post my evidence, Seranova. I've yet to hear from you. I'm interested in doing so.

I don't see how I'm being an asshole in this case, actually.
The original posting sequence was fun, I really get a kick out of people arguing over religion though.

But you are an asshole now for attempting to continue it after its dead.

Things the Bible Asserts as Fact:

1. If a woman is not a virgin when she is married she should be stoned to death.

2. If a woman and a man divorce then the woman should be stoned to death.

3. If a woman has sex with a man while on her period than she should be stoned to death.

4. If a woman commits adultery than she should be stoned to death.

These are things that are in bold, big black and white letters in the Christian New Testament. I'm going to assume that is your book of faith. If you do not uphold to the Bible in a literal sense then I'm pleased. It means you're not an idiot.

However.

Don't say that intolerance and violence are non-Christian values. Don't say that Christianity is a religion of love and patience. It isn't. I was confirmed Catholic. I went to a Catholic school for a number of years and I've read the Bible as much as any Christian.

The truth of the matter is that the Christian religion is prone to the same failings as any, especially when taken literally. And that's not misrepresenting the religion. It's just reading the book.

The bolded parts are the ones that need to be proved. All you've done is quote a few choice passages on the value of sexual morality as placed by Judaism. Yes, I did say Judaism.

The word Testament, as used in the Bible, is akin to the words Covenant, or Promise. There is a reason one is Old and the other New in the Christian Bible. The New Testament, which you ignorantly quoted as having these passages (before pulling every single one from the old), speaks of how things have changed because of grace. Grace being the linchpin of the Christian faith. Therein lies the tolerance and understanding Christians are supposed to have. Do they always? No. Don't blame the religion, blame the people. The New Testament is very clear on this fact.

Traditionally, the Old Testament is drawn from for the purpose of historical reasons, and character lessons. There is still a lot to be learned from the people portrayed, if one understands that stonings are no longer necessary or acceptable. Christ was, in fact, the first to begin amending these ideals and shaping Christianity. That is, of course, the reason it is called Christianity, not Judaism. Unless you've forgotten that much. Or maybe you're just ignoring it. I dunno.

As a note, I never once stated that violence wasn't in the bible. Hell, entire wars and military campaigns were depicted. Fire and brimstone, literal wrath of God, swallow people up kind of deal. But don't sit in your chair and think that's all there is, pounding your finger at a verse and pretending there's nothing else to it. You're no better than the hypocrites that you denounce. And yes, there are many that claim to be of the Christian faith.

For the record, I have never once stated that Christianity is my faith, or that I aspire to any faith. I know a good deal about it. My personal beliefs are really nobody else's concern. All I stated was that Christians were supposed to be loving to the people, while not condoning the actions.

I said it before, I shall say it again. Learn all of the facts before you speak, not just the ones that are convenient for your high and mighty bashing session. Anything less just paints you an idiot.

I wasn't aware it was dead. I thought I was waiting for a reply. That's what I was told.

You're right. An oversight. Here. Some New Testament quotes for you.

[Jesus] made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple area, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables.

John 2:15

"Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword."

Matthew 10:34

[Jesus] said to them, "But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one..." The disciples said, "See, Lord, here are two swords." "That is enough," he replied.

Luke 22:36,38

He's cheery when he's angry, apparently. And, correct me if I'm wrong, but the Old Testament is a part of the Christian Faith. The same God of the Old Testament is the Father of Christ in the New Testament.

So, what is your argument? Christianity is a really swell faith, compared to others, because Jesus is a nicer guy than his father? We should just ignore the first book because it is a little unpleasant, right?

I don't get your argument. At all. You wanted proof the book was a violent book. I've given it to you. You wanted proof that the Christian faith was a violent faith. I could give you living examples of its violence. The Jewish Purge. The Inquisition. Salem Witch Burnings. Etc, etc, etc.

But those are extremists by -YOUR- assertion. Not the Bible's assertion. They've every right to call their acts Christian as you do to call them evil.
