I'm hanging loose. The wife will be with her family. Anyone else flying solo?

This is the first year in six or seven years that I'll get to spend Thanksgiving with my family. All 22 members of the family will be there, so it should be fun. But I suspect, I'll require a large bottle of some kind of liquor when it's over.

I'll be hanging with OhMissScarlett, my family, and probably her family too. Good times and good wine :)

I just hope I don't get hit by a blizzard this time.

My family is large and generally well-meaning, but quite white trash. During the gathering after my Nona's wake, we got together as most Italian families do during such times. There was much alcohol, laughter and tears. I hadn't seen the family in a year or so (I was 19), and all dressed up. Found a 50 year old bottle of schnapps behind the bar in the basement and drank it. I was absolutely trashed, and they seemed to love me for it. Apparently I helped lighten things up between my own tears. For me, family and booze go hand in hand.

yeah, me too. the morning of my grandmother's funeral I was passed out on the concrete next to the pool at the hotel. The only thing that got me up was not wanting my aunt to see me there.

I missed the funeral, but my family totally understood. They're cool that way.

However, it makes it tough when I'm trying not to drink.

Just the usual, my parents come down, the mrs & I cook. She makes the pies and stuffing. I'm in charge of cooking the bird, fresh veggie, and, most importantly, the gravy. My mom brings red cabbage, turnips and her own cranberry sauce.

My dad brings the scotch and wine. (Yeah, dad!)

The kids are the entertainment.

Probably at work. Don't celebrate the thing.

I'll be working, as I will on the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday after it. So I have no hope of getting together with anyone and doing anything for it, other than my husband.
