When I was a kid I couldn't even look at pictures. I wasn't even able to say or think about the word without freaking out. Sometimes it's still pretty bad. I'm better though, not great, just better than that.

Snakes terrify me. In third grade, my class went on a field trip to the zoo, and the curator let everyone touch a python, and I was over in the corner trying not to pee myself.

Any dog bigger than a golden retriever also frightens the shit out of me. Dogs just don't like me. I can't tell you how many times I've heard "He/she won't bite you," and have it turn out to be wrong. I even lived next to a K-9 cop with two dogs trained not to bite that bit me.

Not many animals scare me, but I would have to say the one that gives me the creeps the most is the prairie dog. *nods* They look nice and all, but they are psycho! Have you ever tried to pet one?! They act all sweet, but when you aren't looking they attack you!

and the insect that just gives me the willies is most definately the spider. GOD I HATE THOSE!!!! you wanna make me run...throw a spider my way..

Obvioulsy the bigger, or more venomous the animal, the more respect it gets.

The only animal that comes close to striking fear in my heart is man. Only man can conceal his intentions so thoroughly.

I used to be quite afraid of snakes...

But one day I was babysitting this kid who was known as an absolute hellion. I had to show him I wouldn't take any of his crap and earn his respect so that he wouldn't make my life a living hell.

I had been there less than 10 minutes, and he was already trying to feel me out. (NOT FEEL ME UP, you perverts!)

He says, "Are you afraid of snakes?"

"Nope."

"Really? I have a python upstairs."

"Good for you."

"Would you like to see?"

okay...I realize this is sounding bad...but this did happen! There are no double entendres here!!!

"Sure... let's go."

Up the stairs we go... to the tank... and inside... is this HUMONGOUS python...

The kid reaches in and pulls him out, holding him up to me...

"Want to pet him? Or are you scared?"

"I'm not scared..."

I reached out and rubbed the little fella's head... he just sat there.

The kid put his snake back in the tank.

And he never doubted me again.
