Hey va.....how are you doing tonite?va_angel2u said:good evening all.
How is everyone doing?? anything new and exciting? fun and adventurous?? (I live vicariously these days...lol)

I just got back from a weekend in the hills, sitting outside for hours on a sort of abbreviated vision quest.....guess that is somewhat adventurous.....well that and spending the weekend in a house with 9 other women, two bathrooms, and no one died or even drew blood LOL
LOL ok....I belong to a women's group that meets once a month and we decided we needed a whole weekend together to work on ourselves. We rented a retreat center up in the hills and were there from friday afternoon until Sunday afternoon. We did talking stick circles, some prayers and meditations......it is non-denominational, but with a respect for the Creator (insert any term in here that works for you).......and one of the big things for the weekend was a Vision Quest.va_angel2u said:((ears perk up till they look like elf ears))..vision quest of sorts?? 9 other wmn type gathering....??
tell me more....tell me more....

We prepared for it most of saturday, setting intentions of what we wanted to get out of it, learning about what spirits we could or wanted to call upon, and then actually doing it.....we all set out into the woods to find a place that called to us, after getting there, set up our circles (or medicine wheels for those such inclined) and stayed within them for up to almost three hours (some came in earlier, but I had to be stubborn). Now this may not sound like much, but at 25 degrees out, it was enough. Anyway, it was pretty amazing. I got a lot out of it, and then we came back in and spent the next couple hours in silence, meditation or reflecting on what had happened and using poetry, or painting or something, did a project to reflect what we had learned or been shown out there.
omg probably way too much info here, but you can see it really touched something in me......it was an awesome weekend.
va_angel2u said:It sounds awsome. A few yrs back, a friend of mine (at the time) and I tried to set up a similar group. It didn't pan out,Since then the friend and I have parted ways.
Another friend and I have recently started talking about it again. Her life has been insane lately (the calmest part of her life is the 3 car accidents in less than 3 months ).
Then add a few of the gals that she initially thought would be good to invite have completely gone insane. That's why I was so upset this past Fri. w/ the snow. Had a chance to go to a full moon ritual w/ other folks....and it snows...and I wasn't able to go...(POUT!!!)
There's always next month. Will talk to Willow next wknd to see if she plans 1 for next month. ((crosses fingers).
I so want to find local folks who are into some of the things I'm into. Very hard tho. Even been trying <<<www.meetup.com>>> to find a few. Not had much luck w/ the meetups, being held locally tho. On 1, they have enough folks, just not everyone can make it that day. The other 1, we still a few short to constitute having 1 (the meetup needs at least 4 folks). It will happen tho.![]()
welcome lektra......lol......I think there must be a connection between wenches and loving Heinlein......there are a number of us.lektra said:Also am a big Heinlein fan and liked your sig very much.

Mysticcal said:awwwwww I really wish you luck with getting a group together. Mine has been together for about 7 months now, with a couple members dropping out but new ones coming in. It really meshes well right now. A couple of us are trying to bring more meditation and expanding awareness of the universe around us into the group and slowly doing so. Some of the members believe in more traditional christian religious beliefs, so we try not to shock them too much with our "pagan" ways LOL.....breaking them in gently to accepting that what anyone believes is ok, and just a different perspective.
I never sought out the company of women before, and this has been an eye and heart opener for me......please keep me updated on your progress with getting a group together.

va_angel2u said:Thanks, Myst. It will happen if/when it is suppose to happen. Trying not to "freak the christians" is something we have to worry about here as well. Then, there is another therapist, a sweet lady, who tries too hard to prove herself, that she knows what she knows. Sadly, she ends up antagonizing folks, which could be a problem also.![]()
We do have some nice places where we can go to do meditations or cookouts. Between the blue ridge parkway, fairystone state park, smith mtn lake, the Roanoke star, ect.
Have a question for you. You can pm me w/ the answer if you want or if you think it will be too extensive for the thread. How did your group get started?? As in, how organized is it? one person "in charge" or no specific leader? How do you come up w/ ideas for it?? How did you get the word out to others to bring them into it? Are you following my train of thought?? (I CAN be scattered brain, esp at this time of night.)
