Seriously. Damn, before I could get down there and ask them for a grant!

Maybe I should just be grateful for the year I spent on the Enterprise Allowance Scheme writing novels under the guise of doing magazine articles on black gay arts performances :D.

Thank you Maggie Thatcher, LOL.

I can still remember the expression on their faces as they looked at my application form and realised they had a potential triple discrimination case on their hands! never had something rubber-stamped so fast .

Obviously it's much better for young girls to be on the dole and producing illegitimate babies by their layabout boyfriends, rather than acting as (gasp, eek!) escorts. Obviously.

Perhaps this is a devious means to provide these poor young women with the means to have illegitimate babies and live off the State forever! What a super social policy, so sorry I missed out on it. :D

I haven't seen the original guide, but I'm really wary about taking stories like this at face value. Nine times out of ten it turns out somebody blew a relatively innocuous story out of all proportion because YOUR TAX GOES TO RECRUIT WHORES makes a better headline than GOVERNMENT ACKNOWLEDGES EXISTENCE OF SEX WORK.

Anybody remember the article about the woman who was told she'd lose her unemployment benefits if she didn't take a job in a brothel?

Damn governments can be so confused over the prostitution issue. Just legalize it and be done already. Better a somewhat regulated and taxed legal market for prostitutes than the alternatives, such as what we have in many cities. (Coughs....pimps, crack whores, etc.)

I read the article carefully and I think the whole thing is for real. Although we should also bear in mind that the Education Minister (called something very long and complicated which I won't trouble you with) was just forced to resign in a high profile political brou-ha-ha. So this might have been floated in order to cover over that more serous political dramarama. Welsh politics. We lefties have to stick it to each other here, cuz the opposition is out to sea somewhere. (Well, over the border driving their landrovers round England most of them, LOL.)

I am with you on this one. Much better have a legally recognised trade which can be properly regulated.
