Well someone has to..........

I already have my outfit on. A twenty-nine-year-old who recently came here from Kentucky is due to arrive at six or so. I am so ready for this!!

Kids love this holiday with a deep, acquisitive love. It ranks higher than Christmas, every time they poll. I think it's the purity.

I mean, no one gives you socks and underwear for Hallowe'en, now do they?

We did the whole trick or treating thing last night.....heaven forbid someone choose to go trick or treating instead of going to church.

Pah!

And again, Pah! dude.

I went to church! (My "nephew" was singing in the Junior Choir. He did, "I Pray In The Tub," a masterwork of modern churchly music.) Churc, now, Church, y'know. It's over by noon or so.

Plenty of time for sacking whole neighborhoods!!

Maybe where you are, but here the whole day is given over to church. If you miss the sunday night service, then you must be a heathen.

Heathen though you be, you are a good scrivener and an exemplary human being. I am proud to know you, however indirectly, cloudy. You're in a small group of the very very best.

Happy punkin day everybuddy!

No trick or treating in our neighborhood - houses are too far apart and the narrow winding road is too dangerous. I'd never let me kids out there.

Continuing to celebrate my daughter's 16th birthday (she's a mischief night baby) with pizza and monster movie classics.

Coolness! You have a little monster, too, eh?

My daughter's birthday today, as well.

Indeed.

I have to point out, that to our fellow heathens in the Southern Hemisphere, it is actually Beltane for them. Different cycle.

So, wherever you are people, Samhain and Beltane Greetings to you all.

For your Beltane, may the coming season be fruitful and joyful.

For your Simhain, may those parts of your life that have come to an end, live in your memories softly, and with less pain than you ever thought possible.

Blessings beautiful people.

:D

We've already had a Saturday Boo-at-the-Zoo, where kids wear costumes to the zoo and volunteers give out candy.

We've also already had the parties in their classrooms. They actually have a Halloween parade where one of the high school bands come over and the entire school does a little march around the big playground. Cute as hell.

We carved pumpkins - one looks a little doofy, one looks like a cat - and we have skeletons up everywhere in our house. Why skeletons? I don't know - could it have something to do with my attempts to diet off some ass?

But tonight. The real thing!

Our daughter is an Egyptian goddess and I promised I'd make her face up properly. Lots and lots of eye color and liner. Lipstick and nails. She is thrilled - (dad is horrified).

Our son may actually keep his Spiderman socks on this evening - who knows?

But you know what our church does which is especially appropriate for this heathen Sunday event?

They have Treats in the Trunks. Church members dress up and pass out "safe" candy in the parking lot. And then they've rented huge carnival things for in the gym - moonwalks, obstacle courses, basketball shooting games, dunk tanks, all sorts. They give out candy just for being there.

And for the weary parents? There are places to sit and lots of snacks and drinks. You can relax and watch your kids go nuts.

It's all free. And probably a pretty good way to pull in a crowd to church on a Sunday evening.

:)

Happy Halloween, all!

I've been dancing with fairies, through a beautifully lit enchanted forest, and a statue blew me a kiss.

Best Halloween I've ever had. :)

Lou

Nothing sounds better to me than to hear you had a bit of joy, Tatelou. Best of the season.

Gordo, Alabama.

36 or so churches on the main drag or just off of it as you go through on 82. Population? If it's over 600 I'd be shocked.

Happy halloween, and don't be surprised if some folks give out gideon's rathn than candy. I used to build playhouses with em
