Do you discuss money or assets?

I think the only time I've had it be an important part of the story is in "Kendra", where it was a contrast between the two main characters. Otherwise, my characters are usually getting by, by whatever standards those are.
 
That's what's distracting in the one story. Too many numbers mentioned too often and they may not add up the way the author indicates.
Yep. For Red Scarf, I think I sketched out some numbers - how much is the narrator making, how much is she paying her sugar baby, how much did her flat cost - and tried to keep the story consistent with that, but I never put those numbers on the page.

One of the traps there is that no matter how well you do your research, even if you take the numbers directly from some real-life source, there are still going to be folk who latch onto those numbers as something to disagree with.
