A couple of years ago group of musicians performed for Palm Sunday services (including me). It was a gathering of many churches and they pulled instrumentalists in from the nearby colleges.

As hundreds of peaceful church folk gathered to hear the message before processing back to their own churches the picket signs were there. Loud and strong and hate-filled.

One of the pastors, after, said (and I quote) "Now I still can't believe that someone has not mistaken Fred for a deer."
