We at the General Board appreciate having visitors here, but you'll want to take note that things aren't the same over here as they are over there. There are some things that you might want to keep in mind when you visit the GB:
Does anyone have any suggestions for additions or modifications to this list?
Can we make this a sticky thread?
- We DO have a sense of humor over here, but it is often sarcastic. If you can't appreciate sarcasm, you probably won't enjoy your time here.
- Not everyone here will tell you what you want to hear. The GB isn't as lovey-dovey as the Playground.
- If you can't take a joke that is poking fun at you, consider yourself forewarned. The Exit is on your left.
- If your Sig is longer than this entire post, you will likely be ridiculed for it.
- If you can't type a complete and coherent sentence, you will likely be ridiculed for it. That's not to say that we don't all make typos, because we do. Some of us are even bad spellers. However, as in real life, it is important to be able to communicate your thoughts.
- If you can't handle being ridiculed, you will likely be ridiculed for it. Again, the Exit is to your left.
- If you don't like threads about politics, or if having your brand of politics bashed is not for you, then the GB is not for you.
- We have trolls here. They are pathetic. They are often cruel. They do not represent us. But they are here.
- We have fluffy posters and serious posters. The vast majority of us are both, often at the same time. Understand that you are dealing with real people with real lives.
- Do not be afraid of Spelling Buddy and Grammar Buddy. They are your friends, trying to do a service to the public.
- Speaking of Grammar Buddy, your shows possession. It is the opposite of my. You're is a contraction for you are. Please put it in your notes.
- Tongue is spelled T-O-N-G-U-E. Period.
