I hear people often saying things that I know aren't true. Often I think they are actually saying the OPPOSITE of what they mean.

"I would love to do that.' = that is the last thing I want to do and hope dearly I can get out of it.

How often do you do this, and why?

You mean this in the terms of sarcasm? Like "That's a great idea" when you're saying "Dumbest thing I've ever heard."?

No, more like trying to convince the person that it really is a great idea, while hating it.

All the time.

We should get dinner= never going to happen.
You think I could lose a couple pounds? no you look great! = yes, yes I do.
Can’t wait to see you = oh, I can wait.
You haven’t aged a bit since last time I saw you! = Damn, he/she aged like shit.

White lies we all say all the time.

I'd really like to contribute to this thread, but I can't think of anything.

Having been raised in an insanely religious way, I see this in more of the having to agree that something is horrible while secretly wanting to. Always felt ashamed but learning not to.
