Ok, this is just too freakin' weird.

I wanted to play my game. I've got a little icon on my tool bar that I hit to take me right to it. I hit the icon and Lit comes up. Huh! Weird. So, I type yahoo.com into my address bar, it takes me to yahoo. I click on games. It takes me to games. I click on my game, it asks for my password. I type it in, hit enter and guess what comes up? Lit!

Wtf???

I just tried it on aol games too. Lit came up.

What the hell??

Anyone got any ideas?

Your puter is possessed... get OUT of the house.

Maybe a password screw up? Is your lit password similar to your gaming password?

Yes, kiwi, they are the same. But that souldn't make a difference, should it. The passwords have been the same since I started and have never had this problem. Plus, the titles at the top of my page say where I should be...yahoo games or whatever. Then a lit page pops up that says "Ooops, you've hit a page that is not available" (or something like that) then it takes me to Lit home page. I just rebooted and it is still doing it.

Good God! I can't let anyone else play on the puter till I get this fixed! My 12yo clicks on my game links too! I can't have him showing up here!!!

Tools/Internet Options/Temporary Internet Files/Delete File=OK

clear your cookies out as well.

PM Draco estevie... he is usually up and about at this time.

Two possible solutions I can think of off of the top of my head. First, dump your Temp Internet Files in your browser. It's possible something is hung up in the cache...

The other is to make sure you have the "Auto-complete" function for passwords turned off. I'd try changing your Lit password and then try getting in to Yahoo again with the old password and see what happens.

have you rebooted?

sometimes things get whacked and a nice clean reboot will fix you up nice...I've seen this before

Huh! I've got serious problems. Computer problems that is. ;)

I logged out right after that last post and shut down computer. Rebooted again. This time it ran very slow. Very slow, sluggish. I couldn't start anything. I tried to log on to AOL, but it kept getting stuck right at the sign on screen. Hitting control alt delete told me that AOL was not responding. It took several tries and several reboots to get it to finally work.

Its been running very sluggish for several days now. Takes forever to refresh and what not.

Everything is running ok right now.

How weird!

Thanks for the help, guys! :)

glad its better now...

you should still:
run a complete (thorough) scan disk and you you may want to defragment as well.

You may want to get adware to check to see if any pop up monitors are running as they can add to a system slow down.

Depending on your windows version you can check to see whta your system starts at start up. There may be a bunch of older programs that start on reboot that you dont need to (music jukebox, real player, etc.)

How much memory do you have...one can always use some more, ebay is a very cheap place to pick up some more.

good luck

p.s. things rarely fix themselves...

JerseyBoy, I did run a complete scandisk. Twice. I did not run a defrag as of yet but I will later this morning. I checked my startups...nothing that shouldn't start is starting. I didn't run adaware this morning but I have just recently. I do need more RAM, that I know. At start up I run at 89%. I know this is part of my problem. But it hasn't been this much of a problem. This is something new.

I know things don't fix themselves. But everything is running like normal for the moment, I think I'll just enjoy it and mess with it later.

Thanks for the help!! :)

Could this be a virus? I'm getting something similar on a borrowed computer that I need to return today.

Most everything I click on opens my dial-up connection screen.

I need to uninstall some programs, and I can't get to that function.

Temptress, I've ran my virus scan several times since this started. Mine detects nothing. But maybe it has to do with that internet attack thing that happened a week or so ago. Shit, I really should pay more attention to stuff like that.

Like I said, mine has been running weird for several days but not this weird. Even after I logged out of lit, I was still getting Lit pages when I tried to play my game at yahoo. The address bar showed me in the right place but thats not what came up.

Weird!

My pager just went off.

Estevie, right click the icon and check the properties.
Look closely at the line which lists where the game is located. Is this address changed to something like htttp://www/literotica.com?

If that is the case, find the correct address and insert it in its place. As was said before, delete all cookies AND Temp Internet Files, and reboot.

A scandisk and defrag wont cure this problem. All that will do is waste your time. Not trying to "diss" anyone, but some think this is a general panacea for all computer woes.

Something (or someone) has changed the shortcuts properies to log-in to LIT instead of Yahoo Games. I woulld suggest going to Trend Micro's housecall service
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
and doing an online san. (I have no idea which Anti-Virus software your running, or when it was last updated.)

Please feel free to ask more question (here or PM)
Also, please tell me (us) your Windows version, so I (or others) can recommend a cure for the S-L-O-W PC blues.

Draco,

I just right clicked and everything is as it should be. But it wasn't. Everything is running perfectly now. Just damn weird!

I have PC-Cillin as my virus protection. Weird Harold sent me that way when I was looking for a new protection program.

I am running Windows Me.

I did clear my cookies and temp files when I shut down the last time, but it still took several tries to get anything to open. When things finally did, everything is running fine.

I've been told that getting rid of everything, a complete re-format, might be a good idea for me. I'm not sure that I like that advice. That would mean getting rid of everything I have on my computer and starting over fresh, correct? What do you think of that advice?

First things first:

Windows ME is a piece of crap, I'd recommend any other OS (including 95) before ME. If your machine is capable (above 233mhz with 128 meg of Ram) upgrade to either Windows 2000 Pro (My personal favourite) or Windows XP Pro

REFORMAT.

A reformat WILL BLANK your disk completely, losing EVERY SINGLE BIT OF DATA you have on your PC, and will cost you a lot of time in reloading all your games , applications etc.
Not necessary if you upgrade to Win 2000 or XP. Win ME can be successfully emoved without a Format, but it requires DOS knowledge. (Not for the faint-hearted.)

I can supply you with a walk-thru (text file) for a DOS based removal of ME, but you will need a Windows 98 Start-up Floppy to do this. PM me with an email address if you would like further details.

Best of Luck.
Draco
