Weapon X: Saddling Up.

"I hope so, though I don't see an emerald city anywhere near here." He rummaged through the remaining pouches of his belt for a Lucky Strike. It was compulsive he knew but he needed his brand. "Wait up. You got a light Killer?"

She pulled the zippo out of her pocket and offered him the flame. No way was she trusting anyone enough to let go of her lighter. His cigarette dipped in and out of the flame until the end was a bright red. Flipping the top closed, she tucked it back in before she began walking again.

"How very old fashion of you," she motioned to the brand. "What timeline they pluck you from?"

"Well, after the war this brand went up like a rocket. Top selling tobacco of the age." He took a quick drag and swallowed the smoke, it worked better that way. "Because it's toasted." After the words came out he puffed two rings before blowing all the smoke through them. It was a neat trick. But he still wasn't as good as General Fury, or Tolliver. "It was um June 14th, 2010 When I got picked up by our mysterious man in the suit, and I think we were doing ok. I mean We'd developed beyond Nukes, Our Ammo was ferrous, and I had a sniper rilfe that had me a kill at 2200 m." Wade took another quick drag of his Lucky, blew the smoke out towards the sun to check for wind. "I miss Theresa."

He looked the Punk girl over again, smoke in hand and flask on hip. "How about you, What MTV nightmare did you fall out of?"

Her eyebrows pinched together in reaction. Throwing down her cigarette, she stomped it out before taking a swig from the flask.

"Originally, hell, almost 300 years from you. Most recently, that had me a little more then 10 years ahead. I didn't think about you may be from the past. What fucking year you think it is here?" she looked up at the sky like it would give an answer. Then she turned back to the group. "Must be important. They sure picked an odd lot to fix this bloody mistake."

Wade stared incredulously for a moment. An eyebrow tilted and he hooked one the holes in her T-shirt to pull it out a bit, a breif gawk at the band name stretched over her chest now stretched canvas like by his finger. "I didn't think the Sex Pistols had 300 years of angry defliement in them. I guess vomiting on a granda really does imoortalize you. Is Siouxsie Sioux still popular to?"

Wade took a look about and saw; Grass. It was everywhere, and that's all he saw. The occasional tree, some hill several kilometers in the distance.

"Tell the truth Lightshow I don't know and the best thing I could see to fix this mistake, is find farmers." he mused a moment. "Or set the field on fire, but that might make it a little dangerous for frosty over there."

When he heard her say that he laughed a little. "Hell? Hell is waking up one moring with two huge wings on your back." Angel said as he landed. The drugs had started to effect his mood. "Hell is everyone you know disowning you and leaving you to rot in a sewer."

He spread his wings wide and screamed "I was in Hell you bitch! And i'm not afraid to give you another free fall if you argure with me!"

Wade blinked. And then blinked again. "Sphincter says what? You're the first person to ever have mood changes on aspirin, someone fucked you up. Go find us a town please and I'll buy you good drugs."

Wade had no intention of doing so but he was confident in his poker face and in the knowledge that even if this version Of Harvey was psychic, Wade's mind was still unreadable.

But hell? Hell was mutable, he was pretty sure that this punk chick thought her Job was hell. For a while Wade had too. Waking up in a bodybag everyday for 5 years after being killed in some horrific way usually was fairly traumatic, but he got through it.

Briefly He thought about what Cap's version of hell would be, some Nazi or Communist regime most likely, with free medicare. He laughed and ground his smoke out, and kept laughing as he walked toward the only tree he could see.

"Fuck, ditched my other clothes after someone set me on fire in 2021. This gear, with the grandfather of fucking punk, is tight You prefer I went Bach or Elvis? They still have those damn t-shirts too."

She snarled, but secretly more at ease. She nodded to the music in her head the conversation had started.

A grin slipped out at the thought of a huge fire, but a melting beauty stole the joy from the idea. She liked looking at the human ice sculpture. Before she could respond, an angry Angel came down in rage.

"You always were at your best when you were hurting me," she replied coldly. She held out her arms like a mocking martyr. "Just do us both a favor and kill me this time, bastard."

Frostbite

Looking as she does, Frostbite long ago perfected the trick of standing still and impassive as a statue. She made no response to Mageepoo's mouthed words and although Ali's eyes met hers for a moment as the Punkette admired the multicolored scintillations of light passing through her glass-like body she did nothing to encourage or discourage the other woman's atentions. She merely stood there inventorying her teammates flaws, foibles and faculties while sharing little of herself.

Frostbite watched the exchange of Vices with the most enigmatic of smiles on her face. As per her training, she fashioned a smal patch of ice under her feet that enabled her to keep up with the group without expending much of her personl store of energy. She listened to the stories being shared of past loves and future lives and marvelled at the possibilities.

After mulling things over a bit Frostbite looked to Jill and asked, "What's this all mean?" She smiled appologeticallyn acknowledging how feeble her question truly was. She then cast her gaze over the others hoping they knew more of this then she.

Enter the Broker.

As the team argued and walked (Or in Warren's case flying) they came to a rise. Halfway up the rise Warren could see a library (Or at least two walls of a library with everything between them.) He could also see coming over the rise a man in a strange slightly slovenly suit. The man was hispanic by apprearance with a scar going down the side of his face. The man saw Warren and waved at him and geastured towards the library.

Wade

There was a tree in the distance. Of that Wade was certain, what he wasn't certain was where this rise had come from. And where the tree had gone. He held an arm abck as he approached the top the bird was already flying about here, how had everyone missed this. It wasn't some Psi trick those didn't work on him. But it had to be. Standing on top of the hill beckoning almost in friendly manner was....

"Tony Montana?" Wade Gawked a half moment, but that certainly was him. Mr De Palma'a Epic asassin and drug lord. Sans bullet holes. "Aren't you y'know fictional? And Dead?"

Of all things Tony seemed almost friendly, and sober. that was odd. There was a library of some sort, and Wade decided to take advantage of his host. And with something decidedly unmanly in a joyful squeal he walked inside and shouted.

"Hey they have chimichangas."

"Inside the globe Wilson. Help yourself." The Timebroker said in the deadpan of the character he resembled, "There are drinks on the desk." Again a gesture and as if out of a haze the desk with several decanters of liquor appeared.

He looked up to Archangel and raising his voice so the airbourne man could hear him he said "There's a little something in the sugar bowl next to the booze. And Yes Captain, if you look in the stand of the globe you'll find what you need to make your "bloody Marys."" The man sat in a chair as he watched to see how these people would react to the ammenities.

"You got me Icey. I'm as in the dark as you are on this." Jill answered.

She didn't bother to make any attempt at softening the blow that they were mostly in the dark on this. That would be a lie. Cap didn't lie. No matter what else she might do in service to her country Lies weren't one of them. "But I'm betting that whoever just yanked Majie's chain might."

Cap ran after Deadpool and skidded to a halt when she saw what he was having fits over. "Well fuck me running." Was all she could say seeing the display.

"Heh, Start running. Ok so maybe we got enlisted to the royal banquet brigade." Wade was cracking up, food, drinks, money, and that really did look like cocaine next to the sugar bowl. Why it was on the coffee tray he didn't know.

"Hold up people this may be poisoned. I better take first crack at it." And Wade started piling a plate high. It probably was poisoned but that didn't matter if he keeled over he'd get up, it just meant more for him.

"Maj, don't take this too lightly. It reeks of either a trap or a dirty deal. I've seen this too many times," Cap said, "Lulling us is what this guy's doing."

Jill examined what the man was offering with a critical eye. This freak was good. He had her brand of smokes on the table. Her bourbon. Granted her choice there was common as it went but her brand of smokes weren't that common. Very few people smoked camel unfiltered cigarettes these days.

But despite her paranoia she felt she should trust this guy. Damn it.

Ali ran to catch up with the excited group. When she walked into the library, her eyes were drawn to the banquet especially to the booze. She ran to the vodka and turned the bottle up like it was water. Then, she pulled out the flask and refilled it with Jack Daniels. Smiling shyly, she called out to Jill.

"Thanks," she said tossing her back the flask.

She turned back to her bottle of vodka drinking in deeply. If it not been for Captain and her flask she would have started DTs. Maybe she'd be able to repay her later with something better then cancer sticks. She doubted it though. Women like the Captain could take care of themselves. Shrugging off the idea, she open a pack of cigarettes from the table. She lit it up watching the group. Already, she regretted snapping at Angel. He seemed to be in so much pain. What had happened to him?

Her nerves were more steady. Her mind clear. She looked down at the coke. Maybe later, she was happy with the fire water. The Major didn't seem to approve of drugs. Though she disliked authority, she secretly didn't want to him to think less of her. Her eyes turned from him to the ice princess. She wondered which vice held that beautiful icicle.

This group may be the difference between her life and death. She talked a good game, but was honestly afraid to die, because deep down, she knew she was going to hell for the things they made her do. She scowled at the broker who watched them glutton all their sins.

"Well, now that you can all get the monkeys off your backs, we can begin with the business at hand," the Broker said in the thick latino accent, "The first world you have to fix is one you will all no doubt enjoy. It's a peaceful world where war has become obsolete and the United States is the peaceful caretakers of the rest of the world. The President has lead the world through all of the struggles that so many of you have felt yourself."

The Broker noted Cap looking through the packs of cigarettes and pulling out a pack of Camel unfiltereds. He also watched how hard Alison was hitting the vodka. "President Lehnsherr is your target. On this peaceful war unless someone else is in command of the U.S. the people of this Earth will become slaves to a Kree invasion. This should be a simple assassination but be warned the President has surrounded himself with some of the most powerful metahumans on his world. Questions?"

"What does he look like?" Ali responded to his last comment. "And where is he? Oh, and where do we stay in the meantime?"

The vodka bottle dangled from her fingertips. Despite her rage, she knew to keep herself in check with the brokers. She only called them bastards at a distance since she still hoped to go home one day.

Wade

Wade pocketed Two flasks of fresh water and two packs of Lucky Strikes. wehre they had found the old Gold Leaf package, he'd never know but he wasn't about to question. As he looked over the table his heart skipped, there in a corner up against the wall was a case and on it it stated, From Terry. To Major Wilson: Keep me close and your enemies far away. He picked it up and checked, Inside was his Mc-Millan TAC-50 and his two customised AR-24's, inscribed on the pieced Sniper Rifle was Theresa, the name lovingly etched and smoothed above the trigger. He grinned like a fool with a drumsitck in his mouth. Which is exactly what he was. Wade closed the case and turned about eager to hear the mission.

President Lensherr? The name rung in his mind, And rung well. President Lensherr. Wade spit the drumstick out as he spoke up.

"Eric Magnus Lansherr? Magneto." Wade pulled up questioning. An easy hit? This is why he was there. "Magento's the target and he's surrounded himself with a cabinet of Metas? Do we have any intel on who's with him? Is it Paris? Shaw? Banner? Cable? Xavier?" The list just got worse and worse as he went on, Magneto even a beatnik peace loving one was bad, but a cabinet of meta security? That was terrible. "Do we know anything on this?"

Wade kept the quaver out of his voice succesfully, but barely. Magneto was why he was here. He'd finished his contract and signed up freelance with Foreigner and Creed. First Job kill the Runt. It had gone off well and They were an incredibly successful unit. Over time there were 7 of them. Tolliver, Creed, Terry, Cable, Mastermind, Domino and Himself. They were the best, even more expensive and successful than the Cat, and more damge causing than Frost's hellion's or Sable's Wild Pack. People likened their efficiency to Fury's Howling Commandos, with most saying Foreigner had done an even better Job than cigar chomping Nick ever had. Life was good, until they accepted a contract on what was essentially the last world threat left. Magneto. Magneto had taken over Genosha when Asteroid M had been blown out of the Sky. In between Him and Dr. Doom running Latveria they were some of the last places The NRA didn't exclusively control.

After a Succesful Hit on Doom that kept the Mad Armored Doctor trapped in What may have been hell, Magneto was the last threat left. the plan was simple, Send in Wade with a mess of explosives and and a pinch, this would disrupt all the control Magneto had over anything, and with Domino and Mastermind running intereference and Cable keeping Psi's out. Creed, Tolliver, and Siryn (Terry) would be able to finish the hit, And blame it all on him. He'd have to take a final cash out but the money involved was enough to set him more than permanently. This would cash him and Terry out forever. Terry.

There was always a flaw. Cable had been making eyes at the irish lass, which didn't go over well for Domino. Tolliver had no control of anything, and after a displacement learning Cable in the future had Raped his mother to beget him, made a deal with Domino And Mastermind and the Devil. It was a set up. The grenades Wade was carrying were all live high-frags. Terry and Creed were in the blast zone still when Wade went off, the pins pulled from half a kilometer away.

Magneto knew he was coming and the grenades tore him in ways he never thought could happen, An arm hung off his chest attached to his quickly dying head as he looked ovee the carnage all that was left. Terry splattered into hundreds of pieces and Creed a mess of wet flesh. Metal shards like some sick blender ripped the remaining members of Foriegners unit apart. Wade never really woke up from that, he was discarded and he was alive, but he never really recovered. he'd made the deal with the man in the suit. In exchange for his de-hinging from time, the contract on Lensherr would be scrapped. And he'd never come back from Doom's banishment. The unit would drop and Terry would be fine. She'd get back together with that Jamie guy. Everyone would be fine, and the world would keep on spinning.

But anything that spun came around to bite you again. He considered the odds the squad and his job. Whatever he made his deal long ago.

"And what's the time frame on taking his head?"

"And what's the time frame on taking his head?"

"Yes Major, I have more for you on this mission," The Broker said as he geastured towards a dry erase board. Read it and weep.

The list read:

Erik Lehnsherr(Magneto)- President
Tony Stark(Iron Man)- Secretary of Defense
Sabastian Shaw(Black King)- Secretary of State
Baron Helmut Zemo(Captain America)- Chief of Homeland Security

Another list under it read:

Secret Service

Norbert Ebersol(The Fixer)
Natasha Romanov(Blackwidow)
Clint Barton(Hawkeye)
Jamie Madrox(The Multiple Man)

"The time frame is the end of that world," Broker said, "And just a note for all of you on this. When I wrote Jamie Madrox as being in the Secret Service that is sort of an error. He IS the Secret Service. Ebersol, Barton, and Romanov are upper management."

She'd get back together with that Jamie guy. Everyone would be fine, and the world would keep on spinning.

But anything that spun came around to bite you again. He considered the odds the squad and his job. Whatever he made his deal long ago.

"And what's the time frame on taking his head?"

Jill saw Wade getting his gear from a corner and almost laughed at his fear about Magneto. The unstable molecules of her costume began to realign themselves. The chainmail gone to be replaced by plates. The plates were an unstable molecular fiber composite with Plastic. Every bit as strong as the chainmail but non ferrous. Then a thought hit her that made her almost blanche. Got to get rid of the Adamantium shield and the disks. "Hey Broker, If Wilson gets a rearming I do too right? I have quite a few tools that might be of help here. I've solo aced King Magneto of Genosha before. I just need my non ferrous shield and disks. My combat belt might be nice too but after we get rid of Magnofuck."

"Yes Captain, your equipment will be waiting for you there. The belt will be waiting here with your regular shield and weapons." The Time Broker said with a laugh, "Now get outta my sight, the lot of you."

At the Time Brokers words the world wrenched and tried to slide away from the team sideways. Each of the team felt as if they were being pulled inside out from their navels. The world spun and wrenched around them. The group was tossed and slammed about as the world faded out of their sight.

They hit the ground in a pile. It was dark, cold, and wet where they landed and the smell meant they could only be in one place, sewers. As Deadpool hit the ground his arm caught the edge of the sewer waterway and snapped like a twig. Then he felt his forearm hit but when it did it felt like there was something between it and the ground.

Captain America pulled herself from near the bottom of the pile and crawled away from it doing her best not to throw up. She felt something familiar under her hand and when she looked down she saw her non ferrous shield and disks. Her usual shield and weapons were gone. "Think the fuck wad could have dropped us any better than in a heap in a sewer?"

"Oh I'm sure it's all part of his devious master plan." Wade called a tinge of pain in his voice. His arm had broken on the way down. Badly too. calmlky he set the case with spare uniform and weapons down where he could watch it, and reached to reset his arm. It hurt but he grabbed the forearm and began to pull till the splinters would realign, biting his lip to dull the pain, then biting through his lip as he jerked finally pulling the arm to a straight position.

"Son of a bitch. can't we go anywhere nice, maybe somewhere that doesn't invovle falling hundreds of feet?" He bled and spat a half moment waiting for the bone to set and his lip to close. Both occured in short time. Standing and looking over his squad in various states of anger and injury he outlined a plan.

"We've all been given a communicator so we can keep in touch, and that's good because we know nothing of this world. Now remember you probably exist and if you think high government under the maser of magnetism is something you'd be in, go assassinate yourself and assume thier duties. It shouldn't be too hard just act like you. I am going to go secure us a base of operations for a brief stay." He looked about and showed everyone a sychronization of his communicator and thiers. "Now we'll swtich three frequencies forward every half hour. If it is an emergency everyone program your name into it, and we'll commit it to memory. That'll get you in contact with me."

Wade had easy plans kill someone and take thier money, followed just as fast by buying nicer clothes and a shower. Society was much easier to fit in when you looked the part. He waited for his team to respond still thinking like the commanding officer.

"I suggest everyone lay low and determine law enforcement." He looked about. "Any questions?"

Sewer Ali thought as she tasted the stench just as Jill's words registered. Gagging, she pushed up on her forearms as blood spilled from her face. Clutching her nose, she realized it was broke. Her eyes were already starting to swell. Tired, she rolled over against the slimy cement wall. She pulled out a cigarette, tore off the damp end and lit it.

Ali felt in her pocket and pulled out the communicator. She hummed a familiar tune and made a small globe of light to better see the device. Flipping the dial, she found the starting frequency. She looked up to see Captain and Major looking much better for the wear then her.

"It's going to be a little hard for me not to stick out," she said with a chipped tooth smile. "Some of us don't heal so fast."

She scratched at her ratty spikes awkwardly. Sewage and blood streaked her swollen face. T-shirt ripped off. Her black sports bra splattered in a yellow gummy substance. Contusions were surfacing in brilliant blues and greens on her chest and stomach. Her skinned elbows leaked down her forearms.

This time, she knew she was in over her head. She was a kitten running with lions. It was suicide to play along. Exhaling smoke slowly, she heaved herself off of the ground ready to go find some gear. She limped forward as one of her boots was lost in the fall.

"Carpe Diem, bitches."

"I want to test the local Law Enforcement capabilities Deadpool. I really want to know how they can handle us," Cap said, "As well as getting some medical attention for those that need it."
