Family Therapy – The Bimbo Family.

The Warrens, a wealthy, ultra-conservative Catholic family, are trapped in an endless cycle of fights, tension, yelling, and the father’s possible infidelity. Everything comes to a head when the mother and daughter return home after a church service and find the father saying goodbye to a pretty girl 20 years younger than his wife.

After a heated argument where all their pent-up frustrations and grievances spill out, the family agrees to try family therapy to salvage what’s left before everything goes to hell. Of course, they choose a place far from their community to keep up the appearance of a perfect traditional family.

The father’s face was a mix of doubt, disgust, and discomfort as he had no choice but to sit on the old, worn-out black couch tucked in the corner of the room. The mother and daughter reacted similarly, though the girl seemed to have gotten the worst of it, the moment she sat down, her butt sank, stopping only when she hit what she suspected was a wooden board. She tried to force a smile to calm her parents, but the awkwardness was obvious.

Dr. Martínez’s office was outdated, with walls painted an awful melon color. A couple of lightbulbs cast a yellowish glow that strained the eyes. All the furniture was made of wood that had started to swell, with chateau-style finishes that clashed completely with the modern era. In front of them stood a small glass table with a water pitcher and three empty glasses. Behind it was a massive, finely crafted wooden desk that didn’t match the rest of the shabby furniture, and behind that was a large black chair that also looked out of place.

The daughter lowered her head as if trying to hide. Shame and doubt gnawed at her, she had been the one responsible for finding this place. She glanced at the hole where her butt had sunk and grimaced, cursing herself for going with the first recommendation she found a Reddit comment from an account only three days old. She closed her eyes and muttered a prayer — God, this has to work!— hoping the doctor would be professional enough to make up for the dismal setting.

A red door in the far corner suddenly swung open with a deafening creak. The whole family pretended not to be bothered, but it was obvious they were.

Then they saw her, a petite, slender woman with flawless makeup slowly crossed the room, her shiny black heels clicking against the wooden floor. The father nearly jumped out of his seat at the sight of her. She wore a sleek, sleeveless black dress that hugged her body like a second skin, reaching from her chest to her calves.

"Nice to meet you. I’m Dr. Martínez," she said before taking her seat. As she sat, her dress tightened even more, provoking another reaction from the father. She tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and smiled at him. "So, the Warrens, right?" she asked in a clearly Latina maybe Mexican accent. "Tell me, what brings you here today?"

I didn't know Dr. Martínez was such a nice looking woman. The idea of coming to a professional family therapist was mostly for making my Mom feel some kind of hope for “salvaging what’s left before everything goes to hell.”

Maybe Mom was 'over reacting'. It was not really a big surprise to me running into a pretty young lady leaving the house when Mom and I returned home after a church service last month. I know Mom had suspected father’s possible infidelity. Now it's been confirmed. Truthfully, I never wanted to break Mom's heart if I told her what I had seen and heard about Dad with other women. Well, what can I say? Dad has really been nice to me ever since I was old enough to feel him. He even has the ability to talk to me as a friend. And, furthermore, he is capable of touching my arms and my face in a way that nobody would say anything about.

It's been some years now, I don't really like to keep seeing Mom and Dad in an endless cycle of fights, tension and yelling.

"So, the Warrens, right?" Dr. Martínez is asking, "Tell me, what brings you here today?"

There was a silence that lasted for what seemed forever but only 30 seconds before Margaret Warren spoke up."

Dr. Martinez we are here to resolve a family issue. A very significant family issue. It involves, well my husband and I are not getting along and while no one is perfect my husband has been sinning, yes sinning"

Margaret's voice was raised and her eyes were directly on her husbands crotch as she spoke.
