So if the police are such an important part of society why are the crims in possession of guns and hand grenades? why are there still crims wandering the streets?

Why not adjust police pay down until its equal to the number of people shot each year? If they want more money, they'll have to keep more people alive. True free market forces at work.

The American solution to any gun problem is always more guns. Our policemen carry their pistols in plain sight, but we still manage to loose several every year. When a policeman is shot in the line of duty, we always have a few people who say it could have been prevented if an armed citizen had been nearby to protect the officer.

Are the cops heavily unionized their?
