We should all go back to owning horses.

Think about it. We’ve covered up the earth with asphalt for these gas guzzling monstrosities that causes accidents. And make you invest most of your money on insurance, tickets, fixing any problems on it, fixing any problems it may have caused (remember the neighbors fence)
That and I love horseys!

Oh yes! I agree. Carriages, hacks, liitle pony traps. It'd be lovely, clean and peaceful.

Where do I sign? :)

my only problem with that is the fact that i like to take walks without stepping in big piles of shit. otherwise, sounds like a plan!

if there weren't any concrete then it'd be fertilizer. And the way I've seen some pet owners act it wouldn't be much different from those dog droppings that they don't pick up

Horses are great. Unfortunately, all my jobs that are 30+ miles away would be a bit of a bitch.

Sighhh.. I like the idea of horse back travel, too. But I love my car, with my stereo, and my space, and the windows down. Mmm.. I'm gonna take me a road trip this month.

We'd pave the roads anyway so that we wouldn't get mired in mud on rainey spring days. We'd just get around a little slower and we'd have to have clean up crews. There wouldn't be as much pollution though :).

all i'm saying is make sure there are a lot of sidewalks and bikepaths and i'll be happy with the horsey set.

My best friend has a couple ranches and a bunch of horses, though I've never been out riding with him. At his wedding, the bride pulled up in a white coach and four. They had the wedding, then the bride and groom rode off in the carriage.

the benefits of riding horses:
less pollution
less drive by shootings (ok, maybe jousting will replace it)
no dependence on Iraq or Kuwait for oil

I want a black horse covered in armor

I kinda like racing around mountain roads though. I'd miss that. Just something simple like going downtown to the National Gallery of Art (20 miles) would be a major trip instead of a quick ride.

never ridden a horse have you? It beats a car any day.

I want a chestnut color.

I’m not picky. Each of them have something special. Arabians, Appaloosas, Palominos, Bays…

Yes, I used to ride them when I was 14 with a 14 year old girl who lived down the street and had a horse. I used to hold on to her breasts though and didn't pay much attention to the horse.

Yup.......that's why I'm an expert at cowgirl riding ;)

I'm partial to palomino ponies
I had one when I was a kid, his name was Frisky. He only had one eye and you could sit on him all day and he wouldn't go anywhere unless someone was in front him (leading him around).

I remember that......you said it was to stop them bouncing....

JB-- you're a romantic a heart and an environmentalist to boot!! Just my kind of woman ;)
Maybe your kind of woman, but hardly an environmentalist; can you imagine the impact on the environment billions of horses would have?

It is fine and dandy to pine for the "good old days" but most people who do so at best only remember the good, and at worst were never there to start with and have a naive view of how things really were. When horses were replaced by automobiles there were a lot fewer people than there are now, and even then horses were an environmental disaster in the making, especially in the cities where the horse shit piling up was really bad - not to mention dead horse corpses laying around for days.

Can you imagine the envirnmental impact the horses needed for 6 billion people would have? Forget the horse shit, imagine how much land would have to be dedicated to growing horse food. Imagine the methane gases - you think we have problems with green house gases now?

If wishes were horses...

we'd have a lot of horseshit. I'm with you, Heretic. We can't go back.

I own two horses and the neighbos buy the composted droppings for fertilizer! :D
