we need a melania countdown thread

It's the ultimate low effort troll. Take a quiet vacation and let people start trolling themselves with conspiracy theories.

She’s sequestered, memorizing Michelle Obama’s City College of New York Commencement speech.

Just in case she’s asked, on account of her husband being a huge advocate and benefactor of education.

She gets treated as well or better than the most recent Democratic First Ladies. Pretending otherwise makes you look like a partisan fool.

Rosalynn Carter and Michelle Obama were both treated with deference by the press. Hillary, less so, after she became such a public figure. Most first ladies have been, until Melania Trump, which sort of figures, everything considered.

Barbara Bush and the murderer Laura Bush were also treated with deference by the press. Betty Ford was lauded as a recovering alcoholic.

Melanija reminds me of Pat Nixon.

Laura Bush wasn’t a murderer. It was a stupid teen accident.

I have seen a few of these accidents. The teen is ridden with guilt for the rest of their lives.

Politics makes people assholes. There's no reason for anyone to think it was anything but an accident by a couple of teenage drivers. I mean whoever heard of such a thing?

involuntary manslaughter then.

The fact that Laura Bush didn't get so much as a traffic ticket for her careless homicidal driving speaks volumes about white privilege.

Then how about chappaquiddick? There is a little more to that story.

Personally, two girls that I baby sat, were killed in separate car accidents as teens. No charges were brought up on the drivers.

Michelle Obama’s tales of racialized victimhood

She’s sequestered, memorizing Michelle Obama’s City College of New York Commencement speech.

Just in case she’s asked, on account of her husband being a huge advocate and benefactor of education.

Hey, Em! Thanks for opening the door, Babe!

It just goes to show you: Once a race hustler, always a race hustler. The first lady demonstrated a willingness to employ accusations of racial oppression for political gain from the earliest days of her adult life. Take Mrs. Obama’s senior thesis at Princeton University, titled “Princeton-Educated Blacks and the Black Community.” Decrying her racial otherness, the Ivy Leaguer accused her university of pushing her down the dreaded path toward “further integration and/or assimilation into a white cultural and social structure that will only allow me to remain on the periphery of society; never becoming a full participant.”

As I recounted in my book Culture of Corruption, Sidley and Austin corporate law partner Stephen Carlson offered the elite student generous career guidance and mentoring while she was an undergrad and then reached out to her again when she was at Harvard Law. She secured a coveted job as a summer associate in 1987, accepted a full-time job upon graduation, and never looked back. Mrs. Obama, perpetual victim, hopped from Princeton to Harvard to prestigious law firms, cushy nonprofit gigs, an exclusive Hyde Park manse, and a crony corporate board appointment before landing at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Only in America is such upward mobility possible by a thin-skinned incessant whiner who has fabricated racial tall tales all the way to the tippy-top of the ladder of opportunity. God bless the U.S.A.

Michelle Obama's patient-dumping scheme

She’s sequestered, memorizing Michelle Obama’s City College of New York Commencement speech.

Just in case she’s asked, on account of her husband being a huge advocate and benefactor of education.

Hey, Em! You're the gift that keeps on giving, Babe!

The First Lady helped create a notorious program that dumped poor patients on community hospitals, yet the national media ignore the story. Imagine if her husband were a Republican.

The University of Chicago Medical Center has received a good deal of justly opprobrious press over its policy of "redirecting" low-income patients to community hospitals while reserving its own beds for well-heeled patients requiring highly profitable procedures. Substantial coverage was given to a recent indictment of the program by the American College of Emergency Physicians. ACEP's president, Dr. Nick Jouriles, released a statement suggesting that the initiative comes "dangerously close to ‘patient dumping,' a practice made illegal by the Emergency Medical Labor and Treatment Act, and reflected an effort to ‘cherry pick' wealthy patients over poor."

Oddly absent from most of the unflattering press coverage of UCMC's patient-dumping scheme is any mention of the role our new First Lady played in devising the program. A laudable exception has been the Chicago Sun-Times, which reported last August that "Michelle Obama -- currently on unpaid leave from her $317,000-a-year job as a vice president of the prestigious hospital -- helped create the program."

I haven't said much about Melania except to criticize her both for plagiarizing Michelle Obama and for failing to apologize for it.

I don't doubt that it was an accident, but I always thought it was weird that it was barely ever commented on (contrary to what AJ seems to think, there have been only a handful of people in the entire history of the GB who have ever called her a murderer, as a search on "Laura murderer" will prove). I would bet if you asked 10 random Americans if they knew Laura Bush was involved in a auto-related death as a teenager, 8 of them would say no. I feel safe in saying this would not be the case if, say, Hillary Clinton had been behind that wheel.

I think she’s caught in interstitial space just like Captain Kirk was in the classic Trek episode The Tholian Web.

I didn't like it when people said terrible things about Michelle Obama and I don't think Melania deserves all the criticism she gets. Ivanka and Fat Donnie are different, they are politically active and thus fair game. I get the sense Melania is miserable, and who wouldn't be after after 20 years with Cheeto Jesus?

Then Michelle was fair game too.
She got political with issues such as school lunches.
If Ivanka is a fair target, then Valerie Jarrett was too. Nothing to be fired over.

What we have here is nothing more than the Progressive double standard. When we do it, it's funny, pointed and justified. When anyone else does it, it is mean, _______ist/phobic and completely unjustified.

It became clear to the quiet majority, especially during the celebratory phase of the Hillary Clinton election as the loud, vocal and obnoxious minority, who just knew they were going to win, that they would have their first woman president and that she would up the Californication of the Federal government to not just go after everything conservative from viewpoint to way of life but to actually begin the process criminalizing it following the Lois Lerner example.

Beating up on Melania is not winning you friends, even when it wins the approval of your "Friends."

Like I said, leave her alone. She's in deep enough already.

If it had been 17-year old Hillary Rodham, she probably would have been treated about the same as the other future First Lady was. Of course, this is strictly speculation.

You speak from ignorance, the ignorance of assumption.

Get fucking woke to who your "friends" are.

Promoting tribal thinking, eh? That's very Progressive of you.

I have no friends.

I think Mel is in NK being 'friends' with Kim. Spreading the good will, or ... something.

She can stay gone for all I care. I really cannot say that I care where she is.
