.....even if we often disagree....

In light of recent strong disputes with amicus, I thought this might be a good way to clarify that and restore some civility to this thread.

And, seriously, to urge him not to be so spiteful. There isn't a plot to get him, or anything.

Just food for thought.

Seconded. I'm sometimes gobsmacked by the stupidity he can sometimes come out with, considering he's an intelligent man. But I don't hate him.

I'm sure he's a very nice guy as long as you don' talk to him about ... hmmmm ... let's see what could we talk about besides the weather ... uh ... uh ... cars, that's it cars. No argument when it comes to cars. ;)

I rather like him. I don't always agree with him, but I appreciate his stance. :cathappy:

LMAO. But I really think that we need threads like this with a lighter touch at times, to keep this site from turning toward flame wars.

True. I can safely say he's one of few who believes as he does (completely rejecting Keynesian and Classical Economics) and you've got to have balls to keep talking.

Bless Amicus and his little cotton socks

see I was picturing leather breeches and a broadsword, don't blow my image, now <grin>

And somehow, a horned helmet. :D

But cotton socks, a Harris tweed suit, and a pipe would work too. :D

Okay, that image just blew my mind!!! :D

Debate threads get heavy, they get personal and they can get nasty. It's good to have a bot of fun now and then, or it can all get a bit much.

i'm not sure why re assurance is necessary.

he's surely one of the 'most posted about {and to}' of regulars. (this thread adding a couple hundred more words to the pile)

as provocateur, that is his aim; he's succeeding-- as a sort of poor man's Ann Coulter.

content does not really matter.

:p

and yes, sev, there is no reason to hate.

Hate? Hell forbid. He's my Happy Fun Ball. His inconsistencies, bigotries, and ignorance are a great source of amusement and enjoyment. He ruffles feathers when anyone expects a debate or any form of discourse. But as entertainment he is top-notch and I appreciate it greatly.

Hats off to amicus, now dance for our amusement.

Send money, or buy my books, I have two published and three in the wings and begin a book and speaking tour this summer, maybe we can shake claws.

ahem...

He's good to have around for those moments when I have too much blood in my head and I'd like some of it to trickle down a brick wall... :)

This thread was just a brainstorm in the midst of recent confrontations with amicus that I have had. There's been a lot of name-calling back and forth, so I thought I would lighten things up a bit.

You're a dork for bothering, my darling.
"Why do boys do that?"
Since I can't do a thing about him, I just put ami on ignore- and presto- no reason to hate him or think much about him in any way.

I've been called worse. :D More of an aristocratic geek with a keen sense of noblesse oblige.

let me take a guess, here, ami,

the books you've published are .... fiction.??

Books? You can't write a sentence, ami. Don't make me laugh.

now that isn't

fair, imp. It's paragraphs that seem to have eluded ami. no doubt because they offer less provocation that (alleged) lists of facts!

but again i toast ami's admirable success is generating responses and maybe that will carry over to his fiction, as well. we can be sure that the 'free market' will assign it its proper value!

A person's entitled to as much respect as he shows others. That's the wasy I figure it.

I'm with Stella. Amicus stays on my ignore list.
