People taking a cooling off thread too seriously. It IS meant to have a humorous touch.

People taking being told to "write porn" as an insult.

People taking themselves too seriously because someone is trying to keep things civil, and thus getting swelled heads over threads meant partly to be tongue-in-cheek.

Severusmax...you may recall, some time ago, another thread was started, something on the order of 'what I hate about Amicus'...I don't recall whom the thread starter was, but the current thread is the second to take issue with an individual and that is a little strange to most.

It is my fault of course, and I take full blame for it. I came to Literotica not quite three years ago at the suggestion of the owner of All Poetry, a popular site for poems and short stories.

Although my erotic writings are very mild compared to what is published on Literotica, they raised the ire of some on All Poetry, they shoved, I pushed back and got banned from the site. The site owner suggested I look at this site as a possible outlet for my work.

The first story I submitted, 'Susan', won the monthly prize in October of 2003 and I was quite happy with the one hundred dollar check and the nice little 'W' next to the story.

While surfing through the site, I ran across the Author's Forum and discovered it to be a beehive for a very exclusive political discussion, that of the radical left wing liberals.

Never one to step back from a confrontation, I took on the regulars here and renamed them the 'usual suspects' after an old movie line by Sidney Greenstreet, I think, in a Bogart movie of the 40's.

Well, the confrontation was widened from just the political to the philosophical, aka Ayn Rand, to the psychological, behavioralists, 'skinner box' and such, to economics, ecology, and environmental debate and confrontation.

Left wing liberals on this site, once so happily esconsced, like bugs in a rug, patting each other on the back, found themselves to be most uncomfortable being challenged in each of their beliefs on a rational, logical basis.

Both the ladies and the gents get nasty from time to time, with personal insults and attempts at character assassination. This latest little tempest is just one of many and some are just pissed that Amicus2k6 kicked all their asses in a silly game called nation states, in which I was invited to participate in great expectations that my viewpoints would relegate me to failure in the competition.

Well, it didn't work out that way. Amicus2k6 took first place for, I think, four consecutive months and is leading in the current monthly competition, with a purely capitalistic viewpoint, really rubs them raw.

At any rate, I am near to the point of withdrawing all participation on this forum as I have found another site that is more civil and much more sophisticated.

In nearly three years, I have made no friends here, and can name only a hand full of acquaintances that I will remember. That is not to say I have not enjoyed my stay here, I have, sharpening or honing the edges of my debate skills and keeping up to date with current left wing mantra's has been curiously interesting and even sometimes challenging, though most often not.

Even in talk radio, where I spoke to tens of thousands daily, and hundreds on the telephone each day, there were those who opposed and supported my viewpoints. On this forum, support is rare, opposition seems to be the soup de jour, to borrow from Roxanne Appleby.

My continuing participation here has never been to preach to the choir or to gain converts from the believers, simply to offer an opposing point of view for those still undecided. The sad thing is, and I found this in my radio and television days also, that one seldom learns if any learn and profit from the effort extended.

I will one day soon, most likely, bow out without even a goodbye, thus, not that it matters, but to the few who may wonder, a premature adieu to you.

Honestly Ami we have butted heads more than once and surprisingly enough we have even agreed on more than one occasion. While I can't say I like you I can't say I dislike you either. You like so many others I don't know are just there, respected for your views even when they don't match my own but still in the end just there. (Don't feel badly about this though, there are very few people I can say that I like and even fewer that I claim as friends. You just happen to fit in with the majority here.)

You know Pure, I am not writing a graduate thesis here, (which I have done), nor am I doing a, 'who what when where and why' the 5 'W's of journalism, kind of an article that brought in a hundred grand a year while you were doing minimum wage.

I enjoy a little prose and poetry in my posts, most of which goes over your head, but thas okay, I didn't expect much besides dicks and cunts on this site.

I don't do a lot of Shakespeare or Greek mythology, although I could, nor do I pretend and posture as Perdita and others do of an intellectual heritage, I have no need to do such.

I tried to read some of what each of you have written and posted here, intending to leave comments, but I found I was not equipped to pass judgment on writings I did not understand. I have no means to understand lesbian or gay or bdsm or all the categories that you folks seem to revel in.

I think there is a rational motive for exploring the sexuality of the species, one of understanding. I do not think such a rational motive exists for much of what I read in the stories many on this forum have posted.

So if your 'pettiness' insult was intended to injure, I rather consider this entire site, 'petty' which I believe is a use of the word, petite, or, small and insignificant.

Actually, Sweets, I bought my daughters laptops but am still stuck with an 80 gig desktop, that including computer, monitor and printer, weighs more than I do.

Belittling Litizens is not and has never been my intent, only a few have risen above dialectic and are even competitive.

And my 'Utopian' site, is merely a place where reason and logic and rationality is accepted as standard fare. They/we/I fully accept the feminine, that is to say, the subjective, the emotional, the spontaneous, the Yin to balance the Yang, as a part of this life we have, not the driving force.

I have never questioned the necessity of the irrational, the emotional, the female, as an ingredient of existence, I just will not permit it, the subjective, to be a guiding force, at least in my thinking and in my life.

You may do as you choose.
