I am so excited I can hardly stand it!

Our babysitter has had a puppy hanging around the last few days and I commented to her on how behaved he was, she told me it had been dumped off at the neighbor's and they don't want it--AND--had intended to dump it off again.

I asked her to let the neighbor know we want him and so we will be picking him up tomorrow night.

I am so happy. We have been looking for the "right" puppy for a while and have not come across the "one" that touched our hearts. This one does. It appears we will have a new family member to add joy to our hearts for hopefully a good long while.

that's great BG! i've always wanted a dog. you'll have to post picture when you pick it out :)

awwww which breed is it?
what are you going to name him/her?

<<< excited too >>>

He looks like a beagle/lab mix. Feet are not too big. We are estimating his age at 10-12 weeks. He is beautiful to me--orange and white and not a yapper and not too agressive and just a darling. Very lovable.

His name currently is Rex. I think this is a great name for a dog except that this is also the name of a personal family friend. I suggested the name "Robert". I like that--not sure why, but my son thinks it is a moron-name. I guess I can call him whatever I want and he will call the dog whatever he wants to. We all know that the dog will answer to me better because I am the leader of the pack and will be the most reliable food source. LOL

So happy for you, BlondGirl! A puppy is a lot of work, but having a dog as a buddy is one of the best things life has to offer! Looking forward to seeing pics of Rex/Robert! Enjoy!:)

I want a dog as well again... but I just dont have any time at the moment and I wouldnt be fair. :(

My son and I are both feeding off our excitement. What a wonderful thing to anticipate. We have been playing tonight with our other dog--the decrepit elderly old lump--and talking about how this is going to change his life too. He will have to fight for his toys again. And they will duke it out over the rights to the doghouse. And the wading pool. And the waterhose. And...

This has been a great week!

And I think it will only get better.

I love dogs!!!

Congratulations to you and the new puppy! Hope all will be very happy with the new family arrangement. My chocolate lab is wonderful.

If I may make a suggestion regarding training. Consider using a crate. If unsure, ask your vet. Most consider it the best for the people, and the dog.

Anyways.... enjoy!!!

There was a time our family took in a puppy when we already had an older dog. It was chaotic for a while, but the younger one seemed to idolize the older dog, and it added years to his life as well (although there were times he looked at us with that "why me" look as "junior" pranced and hopped around!).

We took the pup out for his first adventure last night. We went to Petsmart and my son picked out for him a Harley Davidson collar. It goes well with his colouring. Below is the only picture I could get without motion. It is not so clear, but you can get the idea.

We went to Starbucks after the pet store and just relaxed. This puppy is a ham and really enjoyed all the attention he could get. I can't wait to take him with our older dog out to Miller theatre.

When we got home, our older dog did the sniff down and accepted him happily. The cat came and hissed and pranced around to show her status in the hierarchy. All in all, it was the perfect evening. My son is overjoyed and our family is "more complete" with some livliness added to it.
:)

Oh my god, he is SO cute.... have you made a decision on his name yet? Is it Rex or Robert?

*trying to sneak out of the thread with the puppy under my arm hoping that BlondeGirl wont notice* :D

LOL--Rex it is. My son is boss of the buppy for the time and it suits him so that will do. I call the older dog "Lump" and have been calling the puppy "Lump II" as he is napping. It is likely a title that will stick.

His markings are beautiful--the orange and white in random patterns with an orange diamond on his anterior calvarium. I am sure he will never lack for human attention with such charming looks.
