I am interested in a Brazilian wax, but really dont want to go to a total stranger OR try it myself. I have been tossing around the idea of finding a sweet lady who has some experience and would be interested in helping me with this task. Is that a weird request? I think something like this would be less painful if the waxer was a friend :) PM's welcomed!!!!

~Gawd... I hate being a newbie!!

Thanks in advance!

I've looked it up just to see what it look like or how it's done. Have you looked more into it, its not something that you just jump into! I've seen videos and it looks like it HURTS like hell and not sure it it was done just for the video or it's how they do it but they weren't gentle at all with the one getting the shave!

Here's an idea: why not call the professional, and have a meeting with them first? If you don't feel comfortable with it, then you don't have to make the appointment and go through with it professionally.

I think it's sort of like a doctor thing - these people see so many people for these waxes, that it's not a shock or a surprise. They see it every day, and probably can put you at ease about it.

I pulled up a "best of craigslist" post that I thought might make you smile.

this is the rule i follow...
go to a very trained professional at least once, preferably twice, for a waxing service somewhere other than your crotch. i went a few times for eyebrows and stuff, and felt comfortable enough with her that she does everything.

if you are comfortable with them for, say, your underarms or a facial or something, chances are you'll be OK next time with the bikini wax.

but really - they do so many, they don't care what your vagina looks like. it's nothing they havent seen before, and they just want to get it over with....

go for it - if you're uncomfortable, even after trying how i suggested, you never have to go back!

Thank you all for some great suggestions. YES! I did watch the video.. and OMG it looks painful.. Sort of why I want to be comfortable with the person doing it... i want some TLC after!!

I think 'interviewing' before actually going through with it is the best move. I will do that!

Thank you sooo much !!

Chicklet, that was priceless!

IMO, dear thread-starter, you should go to a professional waxer and not to a sweet lady friend or any kind of friend. What if your relationship wanes or you disagree on politics or religion so vehemently that you end up parting ways? Then you'll have to start your search for a waxer all over again. Get recommendations from friends, if that would help ease your initial embarrassment. After you've been to the waxer half a dozen times, it will feel natural and you'll be able to discuss your mother's birthday party or what you plan to wear on your hot date as you spread for your waxer.

It isn't as painful if you trim your pubic hair to about a quarter of an inch before you go in. I'm not sure if the waxer does this for you in the US, but I do it for myself here in Singapore. Also, I go back for waxing before the hair grows back too thickly (in my case about 5-6 weeks) so that there isn't too much hair being pulled out at the same time.

Good luck!

I use Andrea Brazilian wax for a sphynx wax.

Seriously, compared to everything else I've tried (and that's a lot) this is relitivly painless.

Don't wax yourself. A good friend of mine attempted this and now has a lovly scar for her efforts. owwch!

I don't think it would be weird to ask a friend to do it, but only you can guess how she might react. Personally I'd be uncomfortable with a professional, even if I was willing to spend that much money on my bush. The other thing is if a friend is doing it and it gets too much for you, you can take a breather, with a professional I'm not sure that it'd be so flexible.

Good luck!
