Ammo belts were never meant to be worn as belts. They are meant to be worn as the long thin garment a priest wears, the stole (kinda like what happens in the collection plate, but I digress). It is vital in the dispensing of forgiveness. Besides, she won't have to worry about being one of the 72 white grapes passed out to martyrs in Islamic heaven. She is unburdened, like Kamala said.

Amazing!!! Got the WRA rifle disassembled, cleaned, and mostly reassembled - all except for the op rod and the new spring which hasn't arrived yet. Thorough cleaning, thorough lube, maybe some extra grease on a few wee moving bits, all part of the anvil-era fiddly aspects of it. And the forst one was such a pain in the ass. Amazing, simply amazing what a bit more experience can do for a soul.


Of course, you have to have a soul.

Take every assault weapon off the market, and every accessory that allows for / facilitates mass destruction / murder, and Americans would still have a fuckton of choices of arms to bear.

I reckon so. Even the bulk of my bolt guns are old war hardware. Got several handfuls of history around here.


I did discover that Hornady loads a M1-specific match 168 grain round with their ELD bullet. I'd like to drop a few dimes and try it out for fun and games.


I also discovered that, of all things, 6.5x55 Swedish isn't too badly priced these days, which these days is under $1/round in bulk purchases. Back when they were around, I bought a made-in-1902 Swedish mauser. Great condition, every number matched. Sighted at 300 meters, so it's high at 100. It might be nice to play with and maybe scope for 300-60 yard work.

That they do. I suspect Hornady is using good ole 4895, either IMR or H style powder(s), and if not that maybe Alliant RL-15. All loaded to about 2500 fps. You should see good results. Lemme know how that works out for you.

The Swede is a damn fine cartridge. A little under powered because of the case pressure restrictions, but a fine shooter at all but the longest ranges.
 
That's the downside to the Swede. It's a nice rifle. Perhaps would be better if it were cut down to a 22-24" barrel, or even a 20". Handiness is a nice feature, and it isn't really. But, as we have determined, I have a couple of other bolt guns ahead of it in the mix.


I bought the 30-cal gas gun shop manual and there's a chapter in that on accurizing. I have another book that also goes over accurizing, too. This first anvil gun is certainly a good candidate. The WRA is up to the point that it involves changing too much stuff. I suspect its value is more as a complete WRA example, but it wants to work well. The one coming is also a good example, but since it has been rebuilt, it qualifies to be a shooter, so accurizing can be in its future, too.
