According to the CDC, back when I was in grad school last (ten years ago), the most common calibers used in homicides, were in descending order:

.22
.38
9mm

I'm sure the numbers now are out there somewhere - and they probably correlate nicely with the most common calibers in use.

That would depend on whether you included the CIA, KGB, and the mafia, whose popular choice for assassinations was the .22 pistol. If I remember right the OSS/CIA used the suppressed High Standard .22lr pistol.

One of the best .22 pistols I ever had the pleasure of shooting was a High Standard Victor. A quality firearm.

Oh yeah, we had plenty of fields around by us that would have 50 or more deer. Pretty common. It was almost as common to see dead deer on the side of the road. What a mess it was when a semi would hit one at 70 to 80 mph.

There was a section of I-15 in Utah I used to drive on that at certain times of the year towards the fall and Winter would be bathed with blotches of deer blood for about a mile or two near Cedar City. The truckers would just plow right through them, of course, it is dangerous to slam on the breaks of an 18-wheeler on dark icy roads at night or day.
