The point is crystal clear to anyone with an ability to look at things logically. They do in fact fire the same ammunition, 5.56mm/.223, they do have the potential for the same magazine capacity, they are both semi-automatic and fire as fast as the trigger can be pulled. One is part of a propaganda media blitz in a phony hysterical attempt to sell the public the idea that eliminating it will solve gun violence ONLY because of its similar look to a military weapon capable of fully automatic or burst fire. The other looks like a traditional styled rifle so isn't as scary to the gun control crowd.

The mini-14 pictured does not have a magazine inserted by can be loaded with a 5, 10, 20 or 30 round magazine.
