Hey does anyone here own the S&W 30 shot .22 magnum pistol? I find this intriguing and thought it would make a great house self defense gun for my wife.

I have seriously mixed thoughts re. the 10mm. Historically it came about due to the deficiencies of the 9mm. Then it was found that most people couldn't handle the 10 so the 40 came about as a compromise. Now the 40 is falling out of favor and the 9 is back again. <shrug>

Personally I like the 40, the ballistics are superior to the 45 and the 9. But I like the 38 Super even more.

I have all but the .38 Super. I'm back to a .45 carry these days. My 10 is good but not much fun after a couple of dozen rounds. Glock. The platform is light. I'm thinking that a steel 1911 would be an improvement and am willing to experiment. I don't know anyone who has one.

Weight does make a difference for certain. If you can, try a 38 Super, damn near 357 mag. performance without the recoil/muzzle blast.

A friend of mine has a 10mm 1911. I have fired it and now a 10mm 1911 is on my bucket list. It was not a harsh recoil, was accurate, and fun to shoot.
